The Battle for One Billion Pounds
Neil (aka Koosh Koosh) and I have a small bet on-- one billion pounds to the loser who can draw the coolest Sonic.
Here is my effort: http://lemonade.horseface.org/art/pictures/22.gif
Here is Neil's: http://lemonade.horseface.org/art/pictures/21.jpg
I trust you can all make the right choice.

Seconded. Maybe if you both drew the same style it would be comparable, but to have Popcorn draw the Adventure-series Sonic and Neil draw the earlier versions of the character, it's apples and oranges, man.Spazz wrote:They're two completely different styles so I can't really choose. Both are winners in my opinion.

I am hurt to have not been included. You know I'm good for a billion pounds! :(
I have to go with Popcorn's, even when it's something I don't necessarily like (those rounded teddy-bear ears, for instance) it feels more deliberate and intentional despite the "sloppy ink" nature of his style. The result is a much more powerful image (plus major preference points for the giant hands).
I typically prefer a more "classic" style but in Neil's case it's almost classic to a fault, it's just too chubby and too stiff. The right shoulder intrudes into his profile, which softens one of the "sharper" points in his silhouette, and the cropped-out feet lend to a weaker composition. There are some qualities on Neil's that I like better (the head spines in particular seem to have more "spring" than Popcorn's) but overall it's just not as strong.

It's kinda hard to choose, especially since one style is the newer SA version and so forth and other is purely old school. But I like Neil's smoother line art in the pic, plus the feet looks kinda weird on Popcorn's Sonic (no offense, Popcorn, your Sonic is still mighty impressive). I also tend to perfer angular style artwork over the more rounded appeal. I'd choose neither since both are unique, but if I was really forced to pick, I'd go for Neil's.
