<a href=http://everestnews.com/stories2005/ever ... 05.htm>You can get to the top of Everest in a helicopter.</a> I wonder how long it will take for a Hilton and a McDonalds to show up.

Sir Edmund Hillary. First guy to climb the damn thing (and only notable thing he ever did, despite what he may tell you).

When your nation sticks him on the $5 note, you're basically forced to remember him.

And get nude pics of Hillary Clinton?

Lets not forget that the internet is American dominated, with no room for us little 'insignificant' countries.

<a href=http://www.google.com/search?client=saf ... F-8>Google everest Hillary</a> and you get, oddly enough, Sir Edmund Hillary. Google plain Hillary and he's the fifth result. Reaching the top of Everest was kind of a big deal for everyone.

Yeah, sleep mountain climbing appears to be an ever increasing problem here in the UK. The only thing that seems to link one case to another is the fact they all have, as you had, a weird dream. Ever thought of giving up your body to medical science? You die instantly but get paid SHIT loads!!

Meh, I'll be impressed when they put an escalator on the side of the mountain.

Given this developement, I'll bet dollars to donuts that James Bond is seen at Everest's top in his next movie (in the pre-titles sequence, more than likely).

Personally, I think that's cheating, but then I also think that using a powdered cocoa mix to make hot chocolate is cheating, too.

And, technically speaking, Hillary didn't reach the top of Mount Everest first; it was actually his Sherpa guide, the late Tenzing Norgei. But Hillary led the exposition, and thus is generally (and falsely) considered to have reached it first (much like how the first airplane was flown in 1901 by the Wright Brothers' aviantion consultant Gustav Whitehead, but since the W.B. got their flight on film, and Whitehead died in a glider accident in 1908, the spoils of history went to someone more promient).

I was raised on PBS, what can I say?
