Don't like anime?

My favorite Sonic of all time, unless you count the games one, is the STC one. The Aosth one was ok for little kids when it aired for it first years, I liked the more Ã¢â‚¬Å“adultÃ¢â‚¬ï¿¾ things happening in Satam, but somehow the Sonic there didnÃ¢â‚¬â„¢t fit well. The Japanese Sonic X Sonic has it moments, but my favorite animated one is the Sonic from the Ovas.

And I like anime, Space Fortress Macross changed my way of seeing animated characters.

Animesux knows what he's talking about. He's hardcore to the max. I just came back from Japan and let me tell you they are the most assbackwards society there is. They leave their clothes out to dry because they have no room in their house. The moms suck their kid's dicks so they do their homework instead of masturbating. Anime is nothing more then a mockery of American animation and any attempt to find meaning or depth is the result of blatant fanboyism for all that is "exotic."

If I may miss the point of this thread entirely, I'd like to say this:

I don't understand why people would hate Anime. Racist? I don't understand how Japan could be racist. Maybe in, you know, American terms, they might be, but Japan never delt with segregation or any of that. What's a touchy subject in America is barely even a pinprick in Japan. I do hope that remark was a joke.

Beyond that, what's there to hate? Cliches? Every medium has a cliche. Art style? Personal preference, maybe, and maybe I can understand that.

Me? I like anime because it's different. When I got in to anime, it was a fresh alternative to american animation - shows like Animaniacs and Freakazoid were great, but anime, the anime showed durign that time, was radically different in themes and concepts than anything I had witnessed before. In a time when I was perhaps midway through puberty, anime provided me with something to bridge the gap between Looney Tunes and adulthood: Animation that was... perhaps a little more mature than what I was used to. It had breasts. It had blood. It had drama. It had things that, until that point, most American animation - at least, TV shows - had never dared to touch. American animation cliches - which, by that point, I could spot a mile away - were missing from anime. (Later, I would learn, that anime had it's own cliches, but that's besides the point)

What's to hate about that? What, do we hate Japan just because it's not America?

And you don't understand how Japan could be racist? Maybe you should ask the millions of Chinese people they brutally raped and murdered during the Sino-Japanese War. Oh yeah, you don't hear about that piece of World War II because Japan denies it even happened.

Also, what's wrong with not liking anime? I don't like anime and I'm not some Japanese-hater. Just because someone doesn't like something doesn't mean he hates the creators or the originating country, and if he <I>does</I> hate it solely based on some pre-conceived notion of the creator and/or originating country, he's a dumbass.
