But he only appears for weird reasons and doesn't seem to affect the story in any fucking - which is a colossal cop out since they keep on having him appear and then he doesn't do shit to affect the main story. It was a bit of a cop-out ending. The show reached its peak around episode 42 when Al became the Philosopher's Stone, but after that it was like they were struggling to pump out another shocking revelation. Of course, it's still better than most cop-out endings in shows based on uncompleted comics.

While we're on the subject, FMA IS supposed to be taking place in 1920s, proto-Nazi Germany, right? I mean, the only thing that maybe makes me think otherwise is that for some reason, the FMA world has a gigantic population of Muslims (*cough* Whoops - I mean Ishbalans*) in the eastern side of the country, complete with Arabic desert setup.
