Featuring quick peeks at 4 new characters, a word from the game's producer and the addition of a Create-A-Character mode.

Meh, PS2 exclusive? If I'm not mistaken, I believe the PS2 version of Soul Cali 2 was the worst technically and also sold the worst out of the three. Ken Kutaragi must've sucked alot of cock down at Namco to make this happen.

User-created characters in a game like Soul Calibur might be fun though.

I'm guessing that as a console-specific title, they can get more out of the PS2 this time than they did when they had their resources split between three different consoles (to say nothing of the fact that they were all ports of an arcade game in the first place).

I only have a PS2 and only plan to get a PS3, so it's not a huge deal to me. It's looking pretty sharp, although I'm a bit pissed off that they're still using Nightmare and we never got to see an Evil Xianghua with the demon SC.

You can tell we're nearing the ass end of a console generation, because developers are abandoning all but the most popular system. In this case, unfortunately, it also happens to be the most underpowered.

That aside, the character creation mode does sound interesting, except it'll probably end up being something like the old customize system in King of Fighters R-2 and Capcom vs SNK, where you just alter the colors of an existing character and "earn" combos as you progress.

Impressive boobies, though. Namco are horning in on Tecmo's territory like it's okay. But I know they did not make Taki blue...

Considering I own a PS2 you'd think it beinga PS2 exclusive wouldn't bother me. But somehow, it does. Oh well, more Soul Calibur certainly isn't a bad thing, and the newbies look like they'll fit right in with the rest of the gang.
But I know they did not make Taki blue...
What's wrong with blue?

I only saw 3, did I miss something? Oh and didn't the knew Tekken have like customizable costumes? Cause if it did, then I'm sure SC3 will. You can probably change the color of Taki to anything you want.

Nothing, in and of itself. I quite like it in general. But blue on Taki is a contradiction of cosmic proportions. Since the original Soul Edge, Taki has been all about fiery, passionate, skin-tight red. And nipples. It'd be as if they suddenly decided to change Mai Shiranui's outfit to, I dunno, green or something. Some things you just don't do.

In the trailer, they show quite a bit of the customizability stuff, at least to the extent that it's not just swapping colors around, they actually apply the clothing in layers, so there should be quite a bit of possibility. SC's also got the advantage it always had that any move can be applied to any character, there's always one of those "weapon master" characters who uses everyone else's skeletal animation.

I like that one of the new characters has a bladed hula hoop. The legend will never die!

I would like it if you could design your own attack animations, or weapons.

At one point they show what appears to be another character with the three new ones on sketch paper, but upon further inspection it's just Raphael with armor and a big ass sword compared to the one he had in the last game.

You sure it wasn't from the PS2-exclusive character being Heihachi?

Considering that Gamecube and X-Box had Link and Spawn (respectively), an old guy that fights with his fists doesn't seem too hot.

On-topic: I'm no more excited than when the first two came out. Create-a-character could be good in theory, but horrid in execution (Fighter Maker, anyone?). Everything else seems pretty standard. I like the girl with the hula-hoop, though; kickass weapon.

If Raphael becomes the new Nightmare, they better have his Japanese voice actor from SCII...

(I've heard the VA in another game... trust me when I say that his demented shouting is leagues above any other VAs in SCII. Not that you care, of course.)

I so need a faster computer...I need to see the new characters...oh and they are obviously stealing this idea from VF4 which came up with this idea first...I think, correct me if I'm wrong...

Er, see GG's post! VF4 is only adding items, colours and moves which Tekken 5 is also going to include.

The VF4 Kumite mode isn't even really character creation, all you can do is earn points to alter the visual appearance of your character. Which is fine, VF is way too complex and fine-tuned to offer any kind of extensive customization.

That may be Siegfried, the alternate version of Nightmare, see Soul Blade.

Damage repaired. I also really like her better without the face mask, but even Photoshop can't fix that.
