Nostalgic Gathering

Post by Professor Machenstein »

An appreciation thread for all our 16-BIT heroes. Inspired by the GHZ MS Paint Masterpiece. In this thread, we will take the picture below and add one of our favorite Mega-Drive characters to it each reply. You can add Ristar, Arle Nadja, Dynamite Headdy, Soilder Red, Rolf, Sparkster, Alex Kidd, Opa-Opa, anyone. I'll start with Sonic and crew, where the rest of you can take it from here. Oh, and sprites only.

Nice going with Gamma there. I guess we can't take this anymore seriously. Headdy, avenge me!

That's from a late 80's arcade game called Mahjong Gakuen, which was special among strip mahjong games, at least at the time. It was actually made by Capcom, though they distributed it under the name "Yuga" because it was considered so risque. It was the first mahjong game to include an "interact" button, so by tapping the "H" key, you can initiate small animations on the win screen. These include spreading a woman's butt cheeks to catch a glimpse of somethin-somethin under her panties (as seen above), fondling her breasts, making a snake lick her nipple, etc.

This was also in an era where strip mahjong games, as a rule, had fuck ugly pixelated 16-color graphics of illustrations that looked like they may well have been drawn by horny drunken chimpanzees. The artist for Mahjong Gakuen was Akira Yasuda, who would later go on to draw the main illustrations for Street Fighter 2 and 3, Vampire Hunter, Breath of Fire, etc. (In fact, one of the early opponents in Mahjong Gakuen is a dead-ringer for Chun-li. Or the other way around, as the case may be.)

Incidentally, this was one of Capcom's all-time most successful games. There was a sequel a couple years later, but it wasn't made by Capcom.

Right. That's Launch Base ruined.

*goes off and makes some careful scratches on X-Box disc*

I really gotta stop coming to this forum. I'm running out of zones you guys haven't raped yet. And just look at what you've done to my writing style. I almost said "gotta stop coming here" but spotted it in time.
