Ryo always enjoys a cold can of Coke (though he seems to be holding a green can in a not-pictured shot - Fresca?).

Image
Someone's got some 'splaining to do to Ryo.

Image
Probably has to do with the Dreamcasts.

Random Shenmue screenshots clipped from an early (and heavily optimistic) article.

Those last pictures make sense. I mean, if that guy worked for Sega in the early 2002.

It would be so great to find Fresca in vending machines. I've only ever seen that in Colorado. Here I might be able to find a lonesome six pack at Albertson's every now and again, which is tragic because it's the best citrus drink there is.

I believe you misspelled IBC Root Beer in a bottle. Obviously, you suck at spelling to do it that badly.

I am currently drinking store brand strawberry soda.

...it's not that bad, but it's no Mountain Dew.

What is Fresca's flavor?

And (un-crappy) root beer is awesome.

A&W Root Bear is godly.

Have never had Fresca, but I have seen it in a few vending machines around here, I think. And yes, that was Fresca in Shenmue. Or was, anyhow, before they replaced the Coke stuff with fictional brands.

Damn it!

I thought it was still Coke in the Japanese version, they just didn't get the rights for America or something.

I was under the same impression. Was the Coke stuff replaced altogether, or only in the US version?

Could have been just in the US. I recall seeing Coke machines in the demo they had at Disney World in 2000.

They should've just gotten Pepsi. Pepsi will endorse anything, anyone, anytime.
