I think "shimatta" is "damn/damn it".

There probably is a distinction between the two different words (possibly how they are used in a sentence or something, my Japanese is too weak to know) but the idea of the caption is "damn."

I think a tear-streaked "Goddamnit" is the best approximation in this case. There is no specific "best" way to translate swears from one language into another, because even in English you get a lot more from context than just the word.

Check their AIM account genius. Neil got douched by that Half-Life fanboy for saying that Blinx was cool so he evidently uses Koosh Koosh! now. As for "One Classy Bloke," who knows.
