A lot of people appearently, since it was the top selling comic in the 60's--outselling even Marvel's best stuff.Green Gibbon! wrote:That one's actually pretty clever. Popped.
Also, who the hell would buy a comic about Lois Lane in the first place?
And this isn't really Superman being a dick, but it still has that same "WTF!?!" factor.

Hahahahaha, Is amazing that those are real covers. I guess the sales where low and they where desperate to sell comics. The real weird thing is that DC was once called Dollar comics, you don’t find that in the official information. I guess they are ashamed of it…CE wrote:I would buy them. Aren't you dying to know why Lois Lane decided to marry Batman?

I would buy them too. How anyone could resist is beyond me.
I know the usual comic trick was to put some outrageous situation on the cover ("The Thing as President?!") but the Lois Lane and Jimmy Olsen conics are based entirely around the concept, it's irony, or something. It strikes me as the same level of parody that I only see in Japanese fan comics (ie Comical Highway's repeated attempts to cook Knuckles in a stew) and to a lesser extent Mad Magazine--and yet it's published by the official company. "Low sales" and "desperate to sell" might have been what prompted the higher-ups to give the go ahead, but (unless they are 100% unentertaining on the inside) I'm sure the people who actually made these comics were having the most fun of their professional lives. Far from selling out, these covers are probably the most "sincere" US comic work ever produced.

But how does his magnificant blanket-suit not burn to cinders?
Post-Crisis Superman constantly projects a very small aura of invulnerability less than an inch away from his skin. Enough to protect his tights. This is the official explanation.Pre-Crisis Superman had an indestructable suit from Krypton or something. Really.
Otherwise Supes would be running around naked, a lot.
No one needs to see that.
Especially since the hottest DC hero is the Flash, anyways.
