I can't watch any more Power Rangers after that one finale with the grand battle. The rest just suck afetrwards. However corny the original PR were, to me, they were classics.

Using snips of Japanese stuff to make superhero shows was all the rage awhile back. Man, remember Superhuman Samurai Cyber Squad? Or what about Big Bad Beetle Borgs, wasn't it done the same way? I guess it was also advantageous because they could bring over the corresponding toys, as well.
Blaim Haim Saban, the man responsible for ALL of those.

He actually wanted to do the same thing with Sailor Moon. Have live American actors play the girls out of costume, and then splice in Japanese animated footage for the fights.

The man was insane.

Sure, I think I was still watching Saturday morning shows when I was 12. Is that unusual?

'Course, I outgrew it in time to miss all these more recent weird variations. But I was at a friend's house once -- a fellow who is a pretty serious Japan fanboy -- and he had some video of the original Japanese show in which there was like an entire army of rangers, dozens of different teams. Did they ever get to that point in the American version?

Haim Saban sounds scary.

Haim Saban sounds scary.
Did I also fail to mention that he wanted to make Sailor Mars black, and make Sailor Jupiter a cripple who transformed into a Sailor Scout with a wheelchair tank that shot lightning?

"Delphinus" was also the name of an airship in Skies of Arcadia.

How can anyone who surf the web not hear of the infamous Saban's Sailor Moon promo?

http://www.toonamiarsenal.com/download/sailormoon.php

The video can be found on that site and it is still hilarious to this day.

I'm aware of Saban's attempt at live action/anime mix of sailor Moon. THIS is the quote I was "bah"ing over...

Unless he was joking, I never heard this side of the story.

Disney bought the Power Rangers just to make the soccer moms happy. Screw them.

The simple fact that a website like that exists disturbs me.
