The Life Aquatic: Even if you didn't like the movie...

...Buy the soundtrack.
I loved the movie, in its own quirky way, but the soundtrack is really the centerpiece of this film.

IS THERE LIFE ON MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARS?

I could abuse YouSendIt.com and upload it there, then post a DL link for it here if anyone wants it.

edit: I tried three times to upload it to YouSendIt and it just shits out and doesn't transfer to the next page well after the upload is done. I'd host it on my own hosting, but it's 100 meg and my monthly limit is goddamn 500 megs a month (it's free, I'm not complaining.)

But still... I mean, not many soundtracks can boast Iggy, Bowie, and The Zombies.
And the scene where he goes out on the side of the boat while 'Life On Mars?' plays: Pure. Cinema. Gold.

A friend of mine just burnt this for me last night. I haven't listened to it all the way through yet, but so far it's pretty kick ass.

I, for one, enjoyed the hell out of the movie.

I liked it too, though I didn't think it was as good as Wes Anderson's other movies. Rushmore is still probably my favorite movie of all time, and the Royal Tennenbaums isn't too far behind it. I'd rank Bottle Rocket slightly above Life Aquatic.

Almost every one of his movies has something that I'll remember for as long as I live; Max's adaptation of Apocalypse Now, Eli Cash's disturbing painting, Applejack having a heart attack, and Life Aquatic's Portugese Bowie covers.

Really? I took his first time meeting Ned as something I'll always remember.

I'll always remember the "I fold" sequence.

"Are you here to rescue me, Steven?"

"...Fold."
:!:

And a lot of people say they like this the least of Anderson's movies. I guess it's because it's not as humorous as the other three, probably because Owen Wilson didn't do any cowriting this time around.

My very favorite line from the entire movie was: "Yeah, well, we fuckin' stole it."

I just wanted to say again that movie is brilliant. I've seen it twice now, and it's definitely in my top 5 for the year (2004, I mean).

But yeah, Bill Murray is excellent. And Bud Cort was awesome as the Bond Stooge.

Greatest line from a Wes Anderson movie:

"Everybody knows that Custer died at the Little Bighorn. What this book pre-supposes is: Maybe he didn't?"

- Eli Cash, The Royal Tennenbaums

Really, my favorite line in that movie is, "Where's my shoe?"
