A new Stategey RPG from the creators of Hoshigami. In fact, I heard it was similar to Hoshigami...and that Stella Deus is completly average.
At least the soundtrack is decent enough and...it has some nice character art.

From what I hear (and what I saw from the trailer, too), it's going to be upping the creepy factor big time. I got a very Michael Jackson sort of vibe from Depp in the trailer. Pasty, unusually cheery, likes being around little kids...
Speaking of Depp, The Corpse Bride looks pretty cool next year too.

According to those who have played it or seen early screenshots, FFXII's battle system is most similar to those of .hack. Or Kingdom Hearts - minus the jumping. I don't mind it, actually. Since all the enemies are visible and you can run away from them and stuff.FFXII's an action RPG? And Ys VI is being released here?
The big question is, are they going to keep the hoarde of nut-cracking squirrels as in the book? Or replace them with geese again. From what I hear (and what I saw from the trailer, too), it's going to be upping the creepy factor big time. Speaking of KH2, it looks like 4 worlds have been confirmed so far. China (Mulan), Olympus Collesseum (Hercules), Christmastown (Nightmare before Christmas), and the Enchanted Castle (Beauty and the Beast).
I've noticed a trend. All of these worlds are either direct sequels to worlds in the first game, or they have some thread or tie-in in KH1. For instance, Mushu was a Summon in KH1. Beast was a party member.
And it looks like they're going to do a Return of Jafar subplot to top it all off.
I'm a little annoyed. Hopefully, the other worlds will be brand new. Doing a couple of "sequel" worlds is nice, but I'd rather have more new worlds and storylines. I'm trying to think of Disney movies that would be fun to play through -
Idealy, I'd like to see perhaps the Indian Jungle (The Jungle Book), Hawaii (Lilo and Stitch), Atlantis, some form of England (either the furry-filled one from Robin Hood, or the arthurian one from the Sword and the Stone) and maybe Treasure Planet. I wouldn't exactly HATE it if they decided to go with Notre Dame or something to do with Pocahantas.
Man, it would be hilarious if they actually brought back the Black Cauldron characters. I know the characters aren't owned by Disney - but the setting is actually pretty well-suited for KH.
Looking back through the history of their movies, it's suprising to see how many would be horribly unsuited for Kingdom Hearts. I mean, what could you possibly do with "The Fox and the Hound", or "Aristocats"?
Personally, I know it's silly - but I'm holding out for a "Tron" world, or even better - a "Gargoyles" world. I know the kids of today don't really remember Gargoyles. But really - the tone of the show matches KH to a "T". KH even has a couple of plot elements and character archetypes similar to Gargoyles.
Now, if they started doing Square worlds - what would I like to see? Well, Cosmo Canyon would be a nice-side story. It's a tale unto itself, and with Red XIII as a party member - it could be good addition. That or Yuffie could actually join your party for a story in her home island.
Zanarkand might be cool, since we never got to see much of it, seeing as how it was an illusion. There are lots of places in Spira that would also fit as mini-world. As long as they can forget about doing a Blitzball minigame.
If they wanted to do an homage to KH's inspiration in terms of gameplay - it would be awesome to see the Witch's Castle from Secret of Mana in 3D. With the werewolves and zombies and stuff. Or Gaia's Navel.
I never played FF8, so . . . no ideas based on that.

Oh don't worry, plenty of people remember Gargolyes. That show has one of the largest, creepiest online followings of any defunct American cartoon show.... and as you all know, that's no small feat. They have a bloody annual convention in Vegas. They actually successfully petitioned Disney to release the complete first season on DVD, something that Disney NEVER does with their televised cartoons. Fear the Gargoyles fanbase. Seriously.

Cauldron was Disney's first attempt at making an animated film that wasn't "just for kids." It was incredibly expensive, took nearly a decade to complete and was filled with enough iffy content to nab a PG rating. (And remember, this is back in the days when there was no such thing as a PG-13, just G, PG and R.) I think Disney distanced themselves from it both because it was such a flop and because it was too "adult" for their usual image.
They did eventually let it back out of the vaults, though. A couple of scary scenes and a Frog getting stuck in a woman's cleavage just isn't all that racy for a kid's movie anymore, I guess. ;)

I remember viewing The Black Cauldron in theaters when I was little kid and it scared the crap out of me.
Then again there was a lot of dark-fantasy films in the 80's that was disguised as "kid films" that freaked a lot of their target audience--such as Return to Oz which was a live-action film that was also released by Disney.
Though when I look back on it, Return to Oz was pretty cool and in some ways, I like it more than MGM's classic The Wizard of Oz.

Hey, remember Watership Down? I used to love that movie, but it scared the mortal freaking shit out of me. Watching it was kind of an stop-n-go thrill, kind of like popping a mouthful of those tiny super mints.
And the old lady in the truck from Pee-Wee's Big Adventure? I bet that would still scare me.

I saw the first ten minutes of Watership Down as a kid and that was enough for me, seeing those animals go crazy and start murdering eachother or whatever it was they were doing (or did they just turn on the rabbit?) had me scared out of my mind. More recently I read the book, and I enjoyed it but I don't see how anyone would have thought to make a movie for kids out of it (was it really even for kids?). With the mental images of rabbits tearing one another's faces off I was all set to watch the movie and face down my childhood trama. After the book, the movie is nothing.
Though, I also don't think about rabbits the same way either.
