I also have a PSP on order, but I'm waiting for the price to drop down to normal, and with the dead pixel fiasco, I'm thinking of cancelling the order altogether until Sony gets its shit straight. I wonder if they've trademarked Disc Read Error yet?
A SONY product, DEFECTIVE?

No! That simply can't be!!
That was irony right?

I had to buy a new control pad for my playstacion and use my electrician skills (Yes guys I’m the fourth Marxio bross) to fix one of the cables. Sony consoles are made to autodestruct!

Just how long did they get the batteries to last on that thing? Last I heard it was 2 hours.

Sony says the batteries last 6 hours, but from what I understand from lurking around the Insert Credit forums, the people who've gotten a Japanese PSP say the battery life is around 2-3 hours, with the screen brightness at max.

Of course, PSP batteries can be swapped out rather easily (suppousedly), and they sell extras, so if you're really paranoid about battery life, you could always carry around a spare battery or two.

But then again, those extra batteries go for around 50 bucks, and with the PSP priced at around 200 (or it should be, there's heavy price gouging going on right now), plus the cost of a memory stick and a game, the PSP is starting to be as expensive as the Nintendo fanboys were saying it would be.

...I still want one, though.

I'm sure that movie-playing feature is going to come in real handy when the bloody thing konks out before you even make it past the first one-hundredth of Return of the King. 2 to 3 hours? That's so pathetic that it is practically defective. I actually feel insulted.

I don't normally jump in on these "console wars" but Jesus, even the DS can power itself -- including it's undeniably essential and oft-used second screen -- for around eight. I may only be playing clumsily controlled ports of prehistoric games, but I'll be playing them for eight fucking hours. Two to three? I wonder who had that brilliant idea? I hope someone stabs him in the eye with a stylus.

I heard you could actually get up to six hours depending on what you are doing. I think having the system on without a game in or anything is what gets you the six hours.

What the hell would be the point in that, though?

Nothing. But it's like when you buy cookies because they're so low in calories - but on closer inspection, a "Serving Size" to them is 1/4 of a cookie. Bastards.

...That reminds me of an interesting story about how I crossdressed once and was able to fool people into believing I was a girl.
My friend said the way I constantly adjusted my wig, placed my hands on my hip, and my suprising balance on heels were signs of a good actor or someone in need of therapy.

Jezz, Baba. I would not like to picture you as a girl. You could barely pass for a "pretty" guy, much less a female. I shudder to picture it. No offense. I'm willing to give you the benefit of the doubt and assume bad pictures.

According to IGN, the PSP battery life is approximately:

Graphics/CPU intensive games with WiFi - 2.75 hours
No WiFi - 3.5 hours
UMD intensive games - 5 hours
MP3 playback - 10 hours
Sleep - Long time

One of the reasons the PS2 sold so well was that it also had dvd playback, however crappy. 'Hey, I can play my dvd's on it! And games!" Well, any advantage the PSP might have in the media department are not all that significant. The MP3 market is already well established, and having a media type specific to the system loses the appeal of the ability to play something common, something that the buyer may already have. Of course I still want it, but that doesnt' mean I'm not skeptical.

The closest comparison I can make is this:

Imagine a shaggy-haired, somewhat more handsome, unshaved, sort of grungy, 20-year old version of Jon Lovitz.

I would think being an ugly girl would make it easy, no one would ever look long enough to decide one way ot the other. People look at things like clothes and hair (and boobies, obviously) and make up their minds immediately without even considering anything else.

The real test is if you can use your feminine charm to get special treatment, otherwise what is the point? You'd just be a cross dresser!

You flatter me. And it probably was a bad picture, I haven't looked at the thread in a while. Heehee.

So I finally did the Kimi whatever thing. It's almost exactly like Incredible Crisis minus the comedy value, which is to say it's not a whole lot of fun. It's basically a series of generic mini-games very loosely connected by an uninteresting story. The games are frustrating and most lack both cleverness and fun value.

I'm afraid I'm out of the loop on this one. This has not a damn thing on Wario.
