Funny that you should mention that:Kishi wrote:If there were a Lion King world, Sora would probably turn into an anthropomorphic cat there, and nobody wants that.

I believe these were concept sketches of Sora's original design.

Agreed. Although it would be funny as hell to see Goofy turn into a wild dog and Donald just become a regular, non-anthropomorphic duck.If there were a Lion King world, Sora would probably turn into an anthropomorphic cat there, and nobody wants that.
Normally, I'd agree. But the KH version of Neverneverland is a damn boat. Not what it could be, considering the island is also full of mermaids and indians and jungles and treehouses.I actually really liked the Disney stuff in KH. Well...just the Peter Pan stuff, really. Peter Pan rocks.

AstroBoy. Seriously, though . . .You get to fly in Neverneverland. It is therefore the best part of the game, regardless of the fact that you barely leave the boat.
I don't really have a favorite part of Kingdom Hearts. I liked Deep Jungle, and the flying battle on Captain Hook's ship was kind of cool. But my favorite part of the game was the plot, and that needs to be taken as a whole.
I like what they appear to be doing with KH2. It looks like there's going to be a third "force". Which isn't done a lot in fantasy games or grand battles between good and evil/light and darkness. From Ansem's journal and the extra cutscenes and bosses in KH: International, it looks like a three-front war is on the way.
"Light" vs "Dark" vs "Nothing/Void". Which could be cool if done right. Idealists fighting for goodness and bunny wabbits and happiness. Greedy evil people fighting for their own ends to corrupt the world into a hellish plain of darkness. And Nihilists who want to put an end to EVERYTHING.

I figured I might as well post this in this thread since I'm too lazy to start a new one... and it would've been sort of on topic, had I posted it a couple days ago.
Anyway, I beat Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories. Here's a big-ass spoiler of the entire game, for those who don't want to play it, but want the sequel:
SPOILERS, BEYATCH:
So anyway, right after (and I'm talking exactly where Kingdom Hearts ended) KH1, Sora is lead to Castle Oblivion, a poorly named place where he thinks he can find King Mickey or Riku. There, he meets up with Axel, a member of The Organization, a group of bishounen with unknown intentions. Sora begins to explore the castle in hopes of meeting his friends, but as he goes deeper and deeper into the castle, his memories begin to fade.
This is due to the new girl named Namine, who has the power to manipulate one's memories. She is being used by Marluxia, another bishounen from The Organization, to make Sora into some sort of puppet.
Apparently, there's some sort of rift in the Organization, and this Marluxia fellow is attempting to seize power in the group, and he intends to use Sora as a weapon.
While travelling through the Castle, another Organization member, Vexen, gives Sora a card that allows him access to a place called Twighlight Town-- While all of the places in the Castle are supposed to be based off of Sora's memories, he says he's never been to this place. Vexen tells him
that this world is from "the other side of his heart", but before he can elaborate, Axel shows up and kills Vexen, because apparently Vexen was about to spill some big secret.
Sora eventually runs into Riku, who as usual, seems pissed off and starts a fight. After the battle, Sora enters into a section of the Castle Oblivion based on his memories from the Destiny Islands. There, his memories of Kairi are manipulated, and he begins to think that the girl he was always in love was Namine. Namine, in true RPG fashion, begins to fall for Sora, and feeling bad for him, eventually reveals to him that his memories of her are false.
Riku shows up again, and Namine reveals that he is NOT the real Riku, but rather a fabrication created by the Organization. This pretty much breaks Copy-Riku mentally, as he thought he was the real-deal, and he collapses. Axel shows up again, and having caught onto Marluxia's plan to seize power in the Organization, sets out to kill Marluxia. Before Axel can finish Marluxia off, Marluxia takes Namine as a human shield. Axel, since he's all bad-ass and stuff, doesn't give a fuck and tries to attack Marluxia anyway. Since Sora has a thing for Namine, he intervines and stops Axel from killing Marluxia and Namine. After a quick fight with Sora, Axel decides to let Sora handle Marluxia, and he takes off.
Copy-Riku shows up again, since he apparently came to terms with his existence, and saves Namine. Sora and co. proceed to fight Marluxia, whose weapons are a scythe and shitload of cherry blossoms (I told you he was a bishounen). Sora kills the fucker, and then Namine tells him there is a way to restore his memories, but there's a catch-- He'll forget everything that happened inside Castle Oblivion, including Namine. Sora says he wants his old memories back, but promises to return to Namine. In order to regain his memories, Sora enters some weird flower-shaped chamber and goes to sleep... He tells Namine that he'll find her once he wakes up, but she seems skeptical. They say goodbye, Namine begins to cry (Will every KH game end with a girl crying?), and Sora falls asleep and remembers Kairi.
...and apparently that's exactly where Kingdom Hearts 2 begins.
Also, after playing through Sora's story, Riku's game becomes available. This isn't some simple sprite-swap though-- Riku has his own story, and the gameplay mechanics are radically altered.
Anyway, since this post is long enough as is, I'll compress Riku's story down a bit-- Riku wakes up in the basement of the Castle, feeling quite bad about all the shit he did during the first Kingdom Hearts. He decides that he will try to cast off the darkness inside of him, so that he can help Sora and the King. However, the Organization has taken interest in Riku, as he posses both powers belonging to the Light (he was supposed to be the Keyblade master, after all) and the Darkness, and apparently, this trait is similar to the powers displayed the leader of the Organization-- Who is hinted to be the "Other Side" version of Ansem. Anyway, shit happens, and at the end, Riku decides to be neither Light nor Dark, but "Inbetween", and sets out for the world called Twightlight Town, a world in between the darkness and the light.
So... um, the game sets up some interesting things for Kingdom Hearts 2-- Apparently, there are different versions of each person in each realm-- Light, Inbetween, and Darkness. Sora is the light version, of um, himself, and the Blond Haired Kid from the Kingdom Hearts 2 trailers is apparently his "In-Between" self. While I'm not sure if Ansem himself will play anypart in KH2, his "In-Between" self is revealed to be the leader of the Organization.
Oh, and I almost forgot the best part! During the ending credits, it plays "Simple and Clean", the real version, with all the vocals and shit. It sounds suprisingly good considering it's coming out of the GBA's speaker. Of course, Utada Hikaru always sounds good.
Ok, that's the end of my long-ass, poorly written, barely coherent spoiler.

Actually, Kingdom Hearts International refers to them as "Nobodies" very cool.
It was hinted at that the Mysteryman extra boss with light-sabers in KHI is either Dark Sora or Nobody Ansem . . .So... um, the game sets up some interesting things for Kingdom Hearts 2-- Apparently, there are different versions of each person in each realm-- Light, Inbetween, and Darkness. Or bi.In-between? Oh, come on, call it neutral
And apparently, I was wrong. Inbetween is the correct term for them.
However, when a "Light" character becomes a heartless - their Inbetween version becomes a "Nobody". Souless zombie bastard with no emotion or past or future. Pretty cool.
I wonder what happens if crap happens to their Dark Side? What if their Dark Side becomes - well, what would be the opposite of a Heartless? Endless? Heartfull? Carebear?
