Time for a break-Don't touch that dial! (MKII profile added)

Post by big_smile »

Cream likes TV. The fact that I know this, and you don’t, can only mean one thing – I have finally devised a theory to explain her fleeting appearance in Sonic Adventure DX. After dropping the Ice Stone, Cream was unable to assist Sonic in foiling Dr Eggman’s plans, as her favourite TV show was about to start.

Let’s hope her passion for TV still leaves her with an appreciation for the humble book, otherwise she may never know the following delights that come from the Japanese Sonic Advance 3 strategy guide.

Robot names

These character profiles are fairly detailed – a quick translation gist would be appreciated, just to see if there are any new details.

‘Cheat’
When I scanned this I thought it was a special cheat, but it’s just the code for the special stage mode.

There are over 20 pieces of enemy art, so I’ll post them next week as I’m still capturing all of it. (Although, I don’t think I will be able to post the full set as most of the art is placed next to the spine of the book and so doesn’t capture clearly.)

I also received my copy of the Sonic Battle guide. I was hoping that it might contain another one of Rouge’s government reports, or at least a confirmation if Central City was the same satellite city mentioned in Sonic Adventure 1, but it only consists of move lists and gameplay charts.

Finally, as promised in the Sonic Advance 2 strategy guide scans thread, here is the second boss name for Lava Reef Zone:

Hot-omobile? I weep for the pun.

I'm diggin' Eggman's x-treme pose in the SA3 art.

Amy's twelve?

Let's not get into Amy's age. *shivers from the thoughts*

There is always a debate on that. ::rolls eyes::

Satellite city? I don't remember that part. Anyone care to jog my memory?

If I remember correctly, Tails and Amy were originally 5 and 8. But were later retconned into 10 and 12.

Ginger Baker? Maybe. But Clapton isn't too hot for the tube, except for those MTV Unplugged specials.

Tails was only 4-5 in AoStH and was 10 in SatAM.

He was always 8 in the the games since his debute in Sonic 2.

Tails has always been 8. Amy used to be 8, but they made her 12 as of Sonic Adventure.

That's actually from Sonic Adventure. I don't think there was any new Eggman art in Advance 3.

I guess it's possibly that I've seen it before and that that's part of the reason why it appeals so much to me. The only thing that really matters, though, is that Eggman is way tubular.

Later on it is mentioned that:

As Sonic Battle shows Amy to be living in Central City, it could be possible that Central City is a satellite City that is downtown from Station Square. ^_^

A twelve-year-old girl living alone in an apartment downtown. Sounds great.

AAAH!

It's funny, but when I first played through SA it never occured to me that Station Square was a city. I just assumed it was... well... a sqaure. With a train station. You know, just a tiny area of a bigger city, like say, Broadway or something.

So where did I get the idea that Tails was (at one point) 4 1/2 years old? Was that in the US Sonic 2 manual? I remember being surprised that he was so much older in both the cartoon and the comic book...

Possibly one of the cartoons. I don't remember how old either had him but it wasn't the age he was in the games.

It was circulated when Sonic 2 was being released. I heard it too but I have no idea where from exactly (EGM?), it's not the US manual and it certainly isn't the Japanese one.

The one that throws me is that I thought Sonic was a year older than Knuckles, not the other way around? He was 15 in the US manual and it seems like generally people have been saying Sonic is 16 or 17 lately. It doesn't really matter, I prefer not to think of the characters as having ages, sort of like how I prefer not to think that they have feet and hands under their shoes and gloves (but it doesn't creep me out nearly as much), but whatever..

Well, she carries protection on the form of a gigantic fucking hammer. And if Sonic Battle is to be believed - a stock of bombs that look like presents.

Hell, she might want to lure out some muggers and rapists in the hope that Sonic would have to come save her and she'd get more attention. She's just that fucked up to actually consider it.
