They drink in the womb.
Yep. In fact, on a recent trip to the Isle of Emerald I was informed that it is both second in Guiness drinking and number of twins born annually only to Budapest. Coincidence?

Quite frankly, alcohol, as long as you don't go in public and risk getting caught, is perfectly fine no matter who you are. You can get drunk off your bulbous purple ass as long as you're not within 100 yards of a cop. It's not like a cop has an alcohol detector and barge his/her way into your house if the door has .01 BAC or more.

Secondly, no matter what happens, people are going to get drunk. Hell, we made a fucking Constitutional Amendment against drinking for a good decade plus, and people still got completely and utterly sloshed.

Thirdly, guns don't kill people. If a woman nags enough, it'll cause men to commit suicide.

Fourthly, *sings "The Twelve Pains of Christmas"*

Fifthly, Joe Lieberman rules, but not as much as Dennis Kucinich.

...OK, not really. I just really like typing and saying Kucinich.

Guns don't kill people. They just make it a helluva lot easier for a person to kill people.

Kind of like saying that cars don't move people, but they do make it a heckova lot easier for people to move themselves.

Guns are just tools.

I don't remember being able to screw in a lightbulb with a gun. Or to fix a car with a gun. Or to repair a hole with a gun. The only practical use for a gun is to kill things.

Er... yeah.

I don't think it's possible to tighten a screw with a hammer, either.

Screwdrivers are tools to screw
Hammers are tools to pound
Guns are tools to kill

Note that screwdrivers and hammers can also double as killing tools. And a gun can be used in the same manner as a blunt object.

*ahem*

Knives, swords, daggers, baseball bats, screwdrivers, shovels, well-placed pieces of glass, cars moving too fast, and martial arts don't kill people, they just make it a helluva lot easier for a person to kill people.

For knives and swords - you need some degree of skill to use.

For all of the others, you need to be right next to the person.

Guns facilitate long-range killing. Which means that it's easier to use a gun than any of the other meathods involved. Also, with all of the above impliments - chances are that the intended victim and anybody around them will see the would-be murderer. With a gun, you can just assasinate somebody - and if you're clever enough, they'll never catch you.

It's much easier to catch a murderer who had to walk up to the victim and smash in their head with a baseball bat, than someone who shot them from 50 feet away.

In addition, aside from swords and possibly martial arts - all of the above have other uses than hurting someone. As I've said before - the gun only has the one.

It probably takes a lot more skill to learn how to aim a gun at long-range than it does to figure out that knives, swords, and blunt objects can cause fatal pain.

Guns can be used to learn physics. They can be used for entertainment (shooting ranges) and they can be used for hunting.

And a gun, even at fifty feet, takes some skill to use. It's not a magic deathray like in the movies. A sword is much more lethal then perhaps any firearm except a shotgun.

Newton managed fairly well without automatic weaponry.

And people killed themselves just fine before firearms were invented. Seriously what's your point?

And most people don't own automatic weapons. You need a Class III license to have them. And you can't even get them in some states.

The people who got them the legal way are generally not those you need to worry about.

It's alot easier to obtain a "legal" firearm to commit a crime then an illegal one. And when it comes down to it, if a criminal is armed and his victims aren't it doesn't matter what he is wielding. Sometimes box cutters are enough.

Generally the scarier a weapon is, the less likely it will be used in a crime.

I'm just saying that the physics leg of above argument wasn't as strong as the other two.
