Narcolepsy is the first "narc" that comes to mind. And when I was little, I went through a phase of fascination with the word "adamant." I kept pronouncing it Adam Ant and wove an entire fantasy around a valiant insect who went around the countryside in white cape and large mandibles, stubbornly biting various ankles.
