Dreamworks does tend to cram a lot more detail into their characters. Unfortunately, they all look horrible and animate even worse.

In terms of look, Dreamworks' stuff arguably looks better in stills than Pixar's work. But when you actually see their movies and compare the animation and fludity in them, though, Pixar wins. Shrek 2 is animated better than, say, Toy Story one, but nowhere near the rest of Pixar's library.
