Welcome to Your Doom
So I just read on Magicbox that Sega America cancelled the US release of the new Altered Beast. Granted, this means nothing to me because the game looks like a load of ass and the original was a load of ass 15 years ago in the first place. But I'm very curious to know what facilitated this decision. Did they provide a reason, and if not, some speculation, perhaps?

From what's been shown in trailers, there's very little in this game to even try to evoke nostalgia. It's a shame, really, because if it <i>had</i> centered upon centurion zombies pow-ering up on "spirit balls" collected from dead mini-cerberi in their quest to save Athena from <strike>Hades</strike> Neff, god of the underworld, I know <i>I</i> certainly would have bought it.Double-S- wrote:Well, you have to love the nostalgia, even if it's nostalgia of what was a terrible game even when it came out.

Maybe the game really did retain the homoerotic undertones of the original version, and SoA was worried John Ashcroft would eat them, or something.Green Gibbon! wrote:I sincerely doubt quality control is a concern. Seems to me like it's the sort of thing that would hold up alright in sales, probably better than in Japan or Europe.
This is a baffling announcement to me.
In short, I haven't a bloody clue, either.

How dare he confuse "Altered Beast" with a "Transformers" series! ARGH!

Sorry about that, it's just that I l0v0rz "Beast Wars"; it's hella cool.
I mean, what's not to love about alien robots traveling through time and space to beat the crap out of each other? And one of them has nice hooters.

I'm a Transformers fan (G1 only), but I have never thought of them that way. The first time I found Optimus/Megatron slash, a little part of me died.
