But yeah, when Sony announced the 185 dollar price for PSP, I think all hopes of Nintendo dominating another hand-held generation went out the window. Fanboys say that Nintendo raped all their other handheld competition before, but they were never up against a handheld made by a giant, heartless corporation allied with Satan and the ghost of Hitler's zombie. I really can't see how Nintendo can compete with the PSP unless they lower the price of the DS or include another pack-in game.
One word: Pokemon

But it is good that Nintendo has some decent competition on their handhelds. Last time we seen that was during the advent of Sega's Game Gear. Because of this, maybe we can see some original and new games from both companies in order to compete with the consumer's dollar.

However, I would probably end up getting both in the far future after a price drop and special design editions since even $150 is too much for me to pay for a handheld--let alone a $200. Yep, I'm a consumer whore but a cheap consumer whore. Most likely, I would probably get a DS first mostly because of Wario Ware, Kirby, FFIII, and that Super Princess Peach game and I need a backlit screen since I stuck with my regular GBA just in case of situations like this. Also I got burnt twice from buying launch issue Sony gaming hardware. I'll wait 'til the second serial PSP comes out thank you very much.

I find it stupid that they're selling the DS so early. I'm torn between the Link GBA SP and the DS. I'm sure the price for it will go down soon enough until it's the Gamecube's price, so I'll buy it then.

Hey... what's the status on the Phantom? I remember it was announced and immediately became the joke of the industry, then it was forgotten and apparently resurfaced at E3 this year and everyone was all like: "Oh look, it does exist," then it was completely forgotten again. What's going on with that?

I think it was just recently announced that Sun Microsystems was going to develop the network infrastructure for the Phantom. Which is even more horrible news for Infinium, because Java blows.

Hey, remember the M2? It was supposed to be Matsushita's god console and Kenji Eno was all over it with what I believe was the second incarnation of D2.

Wasn't there some other hardware that came out at about the same time as the Dreamcast? It wasn't supposed to be a stand-alone system but was designed to be integrated into set-top boxes. It had some new version of Tempest... What was that called?

I'm poor, and indifferent to both the DS and PSP. I'll probably get a DS for my birthday if it has Sonic on it, because I'm a whore.
I picked up Metroid Zero to keep me company on holiday, and-- well goshdarnit, if it isn't one of the most perfect games I've played in years.
Y'know, when I played Metroid Zero Mission, I walked through a door, and got stuck for eternity in a small room with some blocks and a bat. I killed the bat and fired some missiles, but then I got kind of bored. I'm sure it's supposed to be a good game, but the goddamned fucking thing just refused to be played.

I have always cast a wary eye over Metroid games, though. I'm not being prejudiced or anything, but I goddamn swear blind that every single game consists of endless rooms full of bats and blocks until you die. That's just bollocks.

I remember that thing too... I forgot the name, but I remember that it was released on a few early DVD players back in the day... Of course, it's only games were that Tempest game and a shitty kart racer about wizards... I'll try to remember the name, or dig up the old EGM that has a story about it.

Personally, I'm still waiting for a confirmation of the PSO DS rumor that's been going around. PSO on the DS would kick ass-- One screen could be the game, the lower screen could be the menu (hence no more shrinking the screen when you press start), and Wi-Fi or just standard wirless play would be better than transforming into a tentacle monster that lives in a Japanese highschool.

I still say that the DS is the perfect platform for ChuChu Rocket!. It has all the options for the best control sets. You can play Dreamcast-style with the four face buttons, or you can use the stylus to point and the D-Pad or the face buttons for the arrow directions, depending on if you're right or left-handed.

Plus the wireless multiplayer stuff.

NUON. Was integrated into about 3 DVD players and then cast aside. The only good game for it was Tempest 3000. In fact, that might've been the only game for it.

Nuon, that was it. Development kits were being sent out at around the same time as the DC kits, and one developer described the Nuon kit as "two Saturns strapped together".

I'd like to get my hands on one of those DVD players anyway.
