No problem, but oops, my mistake--It does say Super Emerald, no mention of the Master Emerald at all in that caption, suggesting that Eggman is trying to make off with a Super Emerald there. I'm thinking that's an error on the writer's part. It doesn't say anything at all about it, just what I had typed earlier. Sorry. ^_^Thanks for that ^_^. It seems odd that they mentioned the Super Emeralds in that caption as they only have an ornamental role in the scene. Does the caption say anything about the Super Emeralds activating, powering-up or releasing the Master Emerald and making it easier for Eggman to seal it?
What's your real Japanese name?

Who’s your Boss
Seeing as I’m a GHZ staff member, I guess Green Gibbon is my boss. But where as GG! is cool and funky, Sonic has to deal with bosses that are mean and nasty. At last, thanks to the Sonic Mega Collection strategy guide, we finally know the names of all of Eggman’s nefarious boss machines.
Sonic 1 Boss Names – All have the name of “Dr Eggman”
Sonic 2 Boss 1
Sonic 2 Boss 2
Sonic 2 Boss 3
Sonic 2 Boss 4
Sonic 2 Boss 5
Sonic 2 Boss 6
Sonic 2 Boss 7
Sonic 2 Boss 8
Sonic 2 Boss 9
Sonic 2 Boss 10 (Eggman robot boss, Mecha Sonic still has the same name, so I didn't scan it)
Sonic 3 Bosses - We already know these names, so I didn't scan them.
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 1
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 2
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 3
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 4
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 5
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 6
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 7
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 8 (GHZ Mech Sonic boss. The Metropolis version wasn't given a name)

Sonic & Knuckles Boss 12 (Final Eggman Robot boss)
Sonic & Knuckles Boss 13

Wouldn't it be cool if I really were a boss? Everytime you'd walk up to me I'd spout off some grainy, cheesy digitized threat, like: "Welcome to your doom" or "Prepare yourself!" Then some menacing theme music would start and I'd jump around repeating the same three attacks in an ongoing pattern.
Actually, now that I think about it, the only thing I'm missing is the theme music.

Did we want those romanized/translated?
Drill Eggman
Water Eggman
Tonkachi Eggman (from the text, tonkachi probably refers to the hammer)
Catcher Eggman (UFO catcher)
Submarine Eggman
Drill Eggman II
Submarine Eggman II
Flying Eggman
Barrier Eggman
Death Egg *
Hei Hou (pronounced, yes, "Hey Hoe"--though the meaning is probably closer to "Heave Hoe")
JetMobile
Capsule
HangMobile
Guardian

Red Eye (Death Egg midboss)
DeathBall (Death Egg boss)
Giant Eggman Robo (Death Egg boss, "kyodai" = giant)
Final Weapon (Doomsday Zone)
* Oops--they're refering to Sonic 2's end boss, the giant eggman robot, as "Death Egg." That probably ain't right.

Sorry about that!6-9 still aren't up.

Thanks for the translations, G.Silver. ^_^
According to Mr Hari Hari, the Sonic 2 Guidebook also called him 'Death Egg' (Sonic Jam's guide named him "Robot Eggman"). I guess they must have run out of names at that point.G.Silver wrote:* Oops--they're refering to Sonic 2's end boss, the giant eggman robot, as "Death Egg." That probably ain't right.

Re: What's your real Japanese name?
Huh, that's odd. My manual doesn't list them. Then again, it's from the 1996 re-release with the black and white cover, so that's probably the reason.Esrever wrote:But the enemies from Spinball are all named in the American manual. I mean, I know that they are English, but so were the folks who made the game. Any Japanese names would just be translations derived from the originals, just like the silly English names for the enemies from Sonic 1 through 3&K.big_smile wrote:The other names don’t need scanning, as we already know them. Incidentally, the robots from Sonic 3D and Spinball aren’t given names. I guess this must mean they never had any, as even the enemies from Comix Zone have their names listed.
And to big_smile: Wow. You've come through yet again. Not only is this most enlightening, but it means there's another thing to buy in a language I can't understand (why didn't I take that course back in middle school? Why?). Thanks.

Yeah, must have been quite a challenge when you think about it o_oGreen Gibbon! wrote:How long do you think it took to design that thing? They must've been all like, "Okay, we've got to make it sort of shaped like a ship, but also fun and kind of hard since it's the last stage."
It must've been a nightmare snipping and adjusting.
Cool how it still does manage to look like a ship, I guess for the voids in between you could just say the ship was damaged.

Just in case you have seen it, I have posted the ordering details on the Newsboard
^_^
Oops! I missed that one, I'll post it as soon as I can!Did it list a name for the Lava Reef Act 2/3 boss?

The maps for these levels only show the actual path of the stage, so the surrounding areas cannot be seen, making it impossible to tell if the levels are 'ship'-shaped.I guess the same goes for Flying Batter and the S&K Death Egg.
