Square piss me off. Why not buy them out and release what looks to be an incredibly detailed remastering of an already classic game? The garage company gets money and recognition, Square gets the same, n00bs get interest in the Chrono series and get the older games too, old Chrono players will delight in a retelling of a game they love so much. Everyone's a winner baby, that's the truth.
But not in this life, evidently. Square piss me off.

And admit that someone else could be better then them at handling their own characters? They'd rather DIE, first.Square piss me off. Not if it turns out as bad as Chrono Cross, they aren't.j-man wrote:Why can't they at least beat the garage company to death with bars of soap in socks and make a Chrono remake anyway? Everyone's still a winner.
Personally, I don't think Squeenix is capable of doing anything "incredibly awesome" on the same level of Chrono Trigger anymore.

If I ever find out which Square designer decided to make Crystal Chronicles a damn RPG party game . . . *shakes fist* Worst idea ever. Not that it's not well-executed - it is. But it could've been a really great TRUE RPG. Why? Because if people want the kind of experience CC gives, they should just play FFXI and let us non-online gamers have a good game now and then.

Crystal Chronicles sucked. It was a good idea, but it was badly implemented. The whole menu thing was tedious and sported a very poor layout. The combat was shallow and confusing. Waiting for your friends to finish shopping or talking or whatever so that you could move on with the game was stupid.
Zelda: Four Swords, on the other hand, is the perfect example of four-player GBA-link gaming done right. Everything that Crystal Chronicles did wrong, Four Swords did right.

I'll still problably check out FF12, if only because I liked .hack a lot. But the characters don't interest me at all.
They set the damn thing in the world of Ivalice, who's main draw is that it has many races to play as - and the only non-human character in your party is a damn bunny-girl who looks and acts just like a girl - 'cept with bunny ears. I want a damn Bangaa and Moogle in my party.
That's right, I want a surly, pissed-off dragonman, and an incredibly deadly ball of fuzzy wuzzy wuv to send in to battle. Just for the sake of insane irony. Instead we get a bunny girl, a princess, and four guys who look like girls.
Dude looks like a lady indeed.

But should we actually consider DQVIII or any of the DQ games Squaresoft ones? I always considered them mainly done by the Enix side of Squenix.GG! wrote:I don't think there's ever going to be another good Squaresoft game again, ever. Well, I take that back, Dragon Quest VIII might poooooossibly be cool, only because Level 5 is developing it.
And speaking of Enix, I was shocked to hear that the company's name is actually prounouced as IN-IX as opposed to EE-NIX.
*shrugs* I still have hope for FF12. I mean they got rid of the random battles so that should count for the series is somewhat heading towards the right direction.

But Enix sucks, too.I always considered them mainly done by the Enix side of Squenix.
Ironically enough, none of the companies that became famous for making RPG's are making good RPG's anymore. The best RPG's of the past couple of years have come from Namco and Konami...
I didn't know that Eidos was pronounced eye-dos until I heard the announcer say it at their E3 booth a couple years ago.And speaking of Enix, I was shocked to hear that the company's name is actually prounouced as IN-IX as opposed to EE-NIX.

And on the other end of the spectrum, we have a 3d professionally done remake. That sucks.

In the commericals, it always sounds like EN-EX.Ngangbius wrote:

But then again it doesn't really matter.
FF12 will probably suck as bad as FF8 did, but I do admire all the changes it makes with the series-- Real-time battle system, movable camera, airship-to-airship battles... At the very least, it won't have that goddamn ATB battle system (I was so happy when they ditched it in FFX and then I was so sad when they brought it back for FFX-2)... After FFX-2, I'll be satisfied with FF12 as long as no one sings and/or dances to prevent a civil war.
Samurai Legend Musashi looks like it might not suck, either. Dirge of Cereberus, though, is almost guaranteed to suck. It's a generic third person shooter... except with Vincent! ...It'll sell a million copies in a week.
