The new battle system kicks SO MUCH ass. Sora has great ground combos, but the air combos are even better. I mean he sends his enemies flying and then just takes to the air like he's flying. He beats the crap out of them, hits them with lightning, burns them, transforms, and then continues beating the crap out of them without ever touching the ground.

I am looking forward to it. Sort of.

I guess it depends on just how much they've tweaked the gameplay. In concept, scope and artistic execution the original went above and beyond what a Disney buff like me would have even dreamed. I loved absolutely everything about the first game except actually playing it. Ah well. It could have been a stellar television series.

There have been news about this suppose TV series, but it's been a while and I haven't heard anything from it ever since.

I'm looking forward to it. KH was great, even if the battling could be a chore and frustrating at times. There's especially one reason why I want this more then anything: Mulan World.

They need a Lion King based world. Then I'd definitely play it.

Mulan would be a nice addition to KH2. If for nothing else, the franchise could use a couple more female party members. Even if they do crossdress.

I'll just be happy if they include even ONE FF-based party member. I've heard some rumors of an undead version of Auron being able to join the party, but nothing that would indicate he's more involved in the story than say . . . Cloud.

Hell, I'd settle for Monteblanc from FFTA. But what would really be funny if they somehow worked out a way for RedXIII to be majorly involved in a Lion King section of gameplay.

But what would be really bitching is if they worked the Gargoyles in. Man, Gargoyles was like Batman: The Animated Series mixed with X-men and produced by Disney. If any Disney franchise would crossover well with Final Fantasy characters, it's THAT.

But you're aware there IS a Mulan world in KH2, right?

If I remember right, Auron is another guy who works for Hades like Cloud did. Not sure if his role throughout, but that's what I heard.

I still want Vivi in KH, but considering all the FF cameos have been from Tetsuya Nomura (him being producer and all) and not Amano, I'm kinda upset.

I'm going to agree with Eserver in that the Kingdom Hearts franchise would make for a better, high-budget television series(and one of the best things Diseny done on TV in years). I mean the camera was crap, the battling at times became repetitive and when attemping a finale of a combo attack it was awkward, everything about the Gummi Ships suck, but by god I kept playing the game 'cause I liked the story and characters. I also fully enjoyed the ending which is rare for me nowadays.

I remember Disney stated that they were sticking to characters that appeared in theatrical shorts and movies--no TV animated characters allowed.

But it would be a nice dream if the Gargoyles and Darkwing Duck as well as non-Nomura FF character appeared in future KH games.

Stitch need to be in KH2 somehow. He's one of the best Disney characters that was created in ages.

Fuck Chain of Memories. There's hardly anything new in it. Sora is transported to a castle full of his own memories, so he has to re-do a bunch of shit he already did in the first Kingdom Hearts - thus saving the GBA game programmers from actually writing anything original or creating any original content.

It's basically Square's way of saying "In case you missed what happend in KH1, here's a retelling so you can be ready to play KH2."

I beat Kingdom Hearts in a week. Not because it was short or easy (well, okay, it was easy), but because I never put the damn thing down.

So yes, yes I am looking forward to II.

Damn you people are missed informed.

1. Auron joins your party.

2. There are strong hints of a Lion King world.

3. Chain of Memories takes place right after Kingdom Hearts. It is a new story not the first game retold. It was stated in an interview, there are new worlds, different things happen, new enemies appear, we see what happened to Mickey and Riku. More information on Ansem and the Unknowns. Cool 3D cut scenes. Check it out.

I fucking love the first Kingdom Hearts-- It had everything... Interesting story, classic Nomura character designs (Shut up, I'm a fan of his style), Utada Hikaru, and a fucking depressing ass ending on par with FFX's.

So yeah, I'm looking forward to KH2 and Chain of Memories.

Apparently Chain of Memories takes place in "The Palace of Memories" or something like that, and Sora, Goofy and Donald have been afflicted with amnesia or something and each part of the palace is based on their lost memories, which may explain all the reused worlds from the first KH.

And there is a Mulan world in KH2. There are screenshots of it floating around.

And yeah, Auron joins you. According to a preview from IGN, Hades summons him to replace Cloud (Hades, after all, controls the Underworld and brings Auron back from the dead)... But Auron says something like, "This is my story, I'm not gonna take your fucking orders" and stabs Hades and knocks him off a fucking cliff or something. Nice to see that Auron is still a badass.

Adored KH. I've become increasingly obsessed with the game since it's release, mostly due to its characters, the symbolism involved within the basic plot outline and the stellar music and graphical representation.

Gameplay wont to shabby, either. Sure there were flaws. Didn't keep me from enjoying myself, but then I have high tolerance for such things. Part 2 appears to address concerns with the battle system, as you'll be able to extend combo's by mingling melee combat with magic spells and special attacks.

I respect CoM for trying to be a port and a new title at the same time. Whether or not it's considered a cash run, the truth of the matter is that a lot of work and man-hours is going into this game that no mere port should have any right to. In an effort to re-invigorate the franchise in preparation for the imminent (read: in a year) release of KH2, Squeenix and Nomura has taken the core concept of KH and changed everything that needed to change in order to work on a handheld, 2D powered console. The battle system was altered to rely on cards in battle (a popular handheld game motif, it would seem), while the story was changed just enough so that those who've never laid eyes on KH could learn the significance between the many characters, while those who are already familiar with the title will get to experience some foreshadowing for the upcoming console sequel.

Time will tell if it's a success or an utter failure of a concept.

I don't know about the others, but I don't know much about KH2 because I don't like to be spoiled about these things beyond knowing that they're being made, so I don't go looking for information.

I thougt Auron joins you, but isn't playable, ala the the FFs from KH1.

You're not the only one who enjoys Nomura's artwork. He's one of my artist role models, especially in terms of character outfits. I love them multiple belts zippers, googles, etc.

I think Scrooge McDuck has a chance to appear in the franchise in future installments since I can recall that he appeared in a theatrical/educational short about money in the 50's and he seems to be more-well known among the Disney properties than say...Gargoyles.

I don't understand why everyone loved Kingdom Hearts so much. The idea of playing a Final Fantasy-type game with Disney characters appeals a bit to even me, but from what I could tell it was just a really generic, rather boring RPG. With some lame platform elements. Or something like that. Who knows, maybe I'll buy it when it gets even cheaper.

I admit the gameplay was frustrating. I mean, those combos and whatever abilities Sora has didn't do lick for me and I ended up not using any of them, but after so much suffering, to me, the game just felt rewarding. I don't even like cliffhanger endings, but KH did it for me (unlike say Jak 2, which cliffhanger-ish ending disappointed me).
