Sonic the Hedgehog Birthday Pack
I got it for about 10 bucks over at play-asia.com. I ordered that alone with Sonic Adventure 1 and PSOv2 (for no apparent reason) and the Xbox USB controller adapter. It all ran me about 40 bucks, minus shipping, so it wasn't too bad of a deal.
Anyhow, everything came fine except for the goddamn Birthday Pack. The fucking box was already opened and looked banged up, but asides from a little bent-edges on casing, it's fine, and the coin, audio CD, and booklet are not damaged at all. If I spent anymore than 10 bucks on it I'd be looking for a replacement though. Both Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 are the Japanese versions, (I did know that when ordering) but I don't think it'll be a problem. I beat SA1 enough times to know what to do, so the only thing I need to figure out there is how to save, but never played SA2. I doubt I'll have to know what's going on to play the game though, because the day you have to be able to even read to be able to play a Sonic game is the day he should contract rabies and die.

I wouldn't use it if your analog sticks are getting worn out. It even picks up those extremely slight movements caused by the looseness of the sticks on my S, but my Airflo works fine. I used the XBCD drivers, and had to work a little bit to get the Airflo to work with it, but it wasn't hard.
And yeah, it's shitty for FPS. I got my ass kicked in UT2k4 and Halo, but I'm gonna use it mostly for emulators anyway.

The Japanese SA2 should pose no language problems, it's fully bilingual just like SA1 in the US (and SA International in Japan) is.
Chris--what adapter did you get? I have one that seems to be a "DC Connection 3-in-1," in a clear blue casing. There's a switch on the side that needs to be flipped for the sticks to work on mine. That's probably an obvious thing to check, but wouldn't it be great if it could be fixed so easily? When I was in Japan last month I was at one place in Akihabara where they had the Saturn Twinsticks piled up in a few stacks as high as the ceiling, like they just couldn't get rid of them. If only they'd made more (studier) DC sticks, they're much nicer than the Saturn ones (except for the fact that they break so easily) and those could be flooding the stores now instead...

The VO regs recommended the Total Control 3, so that's what I picked up. It's really dicked up though. If I wrestled with the thing, I could get it to work for a little bit, but if I had to continue a match it would just dick up. I have no idea why. I've tried all three settings and none of them seem to work right. Unfortunately, I can't exactly experiment anymore because my CD, copy of VOOT and Twinsticks are all in my parent's house in VA right now.
And I know what you mean about the Twinsticks, but it isn't just them. The Japanese have everything stockpiled. You could walk into a random store and literally be tricked into thinking the 16-bit console wars were still at their peak. I wish I would have picked up more copies of the Japanese Sonic titles while I was over there, but it seems you guys have most of the manual scans anyway. Still it would have been nice to add them to my collection and there are certainly a few DC games I have that I could part with. (read: sell)

This is where I tell the story of the town of Lafayette, Colorado being populated by dorks. I wanted the SA2 Birthday Pack, and the day it was released, I called all over the damn state looking for it. Out of all the places I called whom either did not know what it was, only had the regular SA2 stocked, or weren't getting any, GameForce, a low-budget place that's like GameStop but not, told me:
"Uh... (cough)... I.. thought those were meant to be given out to employees as a gift."
Being as impatient as I was I went down to Walmart and picked up a vanilla copy of SA2. Two days later the state had tons of Birthday Packs left over. Jackasses, all of them.

I was going to argue with you since they released SA:DX, but that came out AFTER SA2:B, so you're probably right. If I had no idea who big was and walked past him in the prison, I'd probably think there was some way to get him out of there or some stupid shit.Zeta wrote:They figured since Sonic Adventure 1 had never been put on the GameCube, GameCube owners would have no idea who the fuck he was.
