Ooh, the Doc makes a good point. I'd forgotten all about that game! As I recall, the main problem was that the AI was so incompetent that it was practically impossible to lose a race. So in a sense, it was barely a game at all. That is a whole different kind of bad.
I like Spinball, too. Mind you, I remember being really disappointed when I bought it, because I was actually expecting a standard Sonic platformer, only consisting entirely of casino levels. Man, it's hard to remember a time when I would have known so little about a Sonic game before actually playing it... when I had never seen a videogame magazine or website before. I think the only glimpse I had caught of Spinball before I bought it was three screenshots in a comic book ad.

I think I just bought games that had cool covers and a neat description on the back. Sonic 1 came with my genesis though so after that I just bought every Sonic game that came out for Genesis. How much were games back then anyway? I never bought a single 16-bit game with my own money until like 2000, I always got them as gifts so I never knew the original retail price. How much was a Genesis when it first came out too?

Sonic Drift was bad and a rehash. I'm just saying I disagree with your assessment of it just being Mario Kart with Sonic graphics, Sonic Drift was infiinitely less than that. The Doc wrote:I never said Sonic Drift was bad. I said it was BORING. I played Super Mario Kart before Drift, so it just felt like a rehash, which it was.

Sometime around 1994 (I think) I stumbled across Japanese copies of Sonic Drift 1 and Sonic 2 GG at a used video game store in Winnepeg while I was on summer vaction. Man, I was SO excited... I had never heard of Sonic Drift before. It was like this SECRET Japanese Sonic game.
So, you can imagine my disappointment once I actually PLAYED the thing. So then I tried the Japanese Sonic 2, and of course found that it was completely identical to the American version. Bah!

Sonic Labyrinth…what drugs they were using when they did that thing?
Sonic Spinball is not a bad game, i like it. If you like pinballs and you like Sonic that game rulez, if you dont...play another Sonic game.
Maybe is a bit too hard for a game that is supposed to be for kids…but that is the only problem I see in the game.
The only Gamegear Sonic game that I played was Sonic 1, lucky me? no. I wish I had a gamegear whith Tails Adventure.

Funnily enough, I actually rather enjoyed Sonic Labyrinth when I played it. Along with SADX and Sonic Advance 1, it counts as one of the three Sonic games that I'm actually reasonable at (maybe because it's meant to be a slow-paced think-em-up rather than your standard high-speed Sonic game).
Umm... Sonic Advance 2, for the sheer imbecility of those bloody annoying rolling bosses...[/i]

Can we say Sonic 2 on the Game Gear? The only Sonic game that I've properly played, beyond Sonic Spinball, that I've never, ever been able to beat? I actually managed to get all the way to Scrambled Egg, Act 2, when I was a lot younger...
And, no matter what, I always died in those tube mazes. Always.
I swear, if they try to remake such a thing in 3D, it will be a dark day indeed.

OK, I've been tempted to say this many times. I haven't because my memories are too vague to defend the point properly, but... I used to love Sonic 2 for Game Gear! It was always my favourite of the GG series. I must have played through it about ten-million times. It was neat!
I don't remember it being especially cheap or hard at all, with the exception of the first level boss and that annoying pipe maze reflex test in... um... Night-time-tubes-and-metal-sonic Zone. Certainly nothing on par with my experience with Sonic Advance 2. So what am I forgetting?
