Even if it is on the Wii-U, that doesn't really change anything. Wii owners still have to buy a new console if they want to play it.

I still remember when high screen resolution implied appealing graphics, and not the other way around.cjmcray wrote:No WiiWare version.. that's a good sign! Must mean the Wii can't handle the graphics.
It probably has to do with getting rid of the shitty MIDI soundtrack, though.

If the Wii can't handle it, are there still hopes for an iOS version, I wonder. Especially one for my 2nd Gen iPod. Not that I'll be too cut up if there isn't, I thought the first one was horrible on all the platforms I tried it on.
Still, if the second episode is at least half-decent.. a Steam release would be welcome.

I find the lack of Wii release more likely to be a sign of a larger game than a more graphically-intense one, as WiiWare titles have a 40 MB cap. I doubt the graphics are going to be any more complicated than Episode 1, especially as it's coming to phones again.

SEGA just showed off the official logo for Ep. II and it is, as expected, homage-licious.

Delicious classic logo. That Tails model is still really awful however.

Kinda wish they'd render a new picture of Sonic, instead of taking the Sonic 4 ep. 1 logo and editing the arms.
I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but it always looks to my eye like Sonic's mouth is kind of scowling in that picture, instead of his brandishing his usual smirk! I think it's the way the mouth dips down with a slight hook on the left side.

Re: Sonic 4 Episode 2 Not to Come until 2012
Cute as the homage is, the poses and negative space in that rendition are a little awkward. I mean, for comparison, the original image:

They're leaning towards each other there, going along with the circular framing behind them, and look natural. The logo for Episode II has them in rather stiff upright positions that fights the framing behind them. Like, if you were to draw a line of action where their spines would be, it'd be almost completely straight. I get the feeling these are two models made independent of each other with little thought to how they'd look put into the same image, which leaves the thing a little half-baked in my eyes. Or maybe the Tails model is just that horrible.
Knowing how to draw can ruin your fun sometimes. Still optimistic toward the gameplay though!

Well, Tails is leaning back in the original to match Sonic's line of action rather than mirror it as you're saying, but you're basically right. It's to be expected, though, they only ever produce artwork of individual characters floating in space these days, even when it's at least drawn like for the Rush games. It's pissed me off ever since the Adventure era (it started with Sonic Adventure).

It bugs me! It's almost smarmy, like Sonic is a step away from being drawn by the LICD guy.Esrever wrote:I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but it always looks to my eye like Sonic's mouth is kind of scowling in that picture, instead of his brandishing his usual smirk! Sometimes at cons we all take turns trying to do our real life impressions of the LICD smirk. It's hard!

Tails looks like he's had Botox and Sonic still looks like he's high on morphine. I've abandon all hope of Dimps making a good Sonic game. Especially after how terrible Sonic Generations for 3DS was.

I wish they would not continue with sonic 4 series. Generations wasn't the best game but it was a shit load better than sonic 4. I'd rather have a sequel to generations or maybe settle for dlc.

The fact it now has a new engine means that we could probably may as well think of it as "Sonic 5". I'm pretty much just looking at it as a new game and seeing what they come up with.

I would be very surprised if that claim turned out to be false. It might end up being as mechanically terrible as the first in new and startling ways, but a new engine simply doesn't seem like something you lie about. I think they realize that doing so would squander a lot of the goodwill engendered by the success of Generations.

what the fuck is happening with sonic's mouth. It looks like it's been drawn in wet mud with a stick.

Doesn't look much better in the original, honestly...the 3D model thing they've got going only makes that awkward expression stand out more. I guess the thin line of highlight looks too much like a grin or something.
Oh well. Any bets on which recycled stages we'll see (as the meatier parts of Sonic 2 had already been used up for ep. 1 and stuff)?
