Should we be overjoyed, or very, very afraid?Capcom also announced that a new anime series based on the Viewtiful Joe games will begin airing in Japan starting October 2. The Saturday morning anime will broadcast in six TV Tokyo-affiliated stations throughout Japan every week from 9:30am to 10:00am. The Parappa anime was pretty horrible. They just re-wrote the lyrics to melodies and songs from the games and used them in the series as musical numbers. As far as I know, it flopped pretty horribly.
As a point of interest, though, one of Parappa's male classmates was gay. He was also the most desirable boy in school, according to the girls, so there were actually a couple of episodes that where Parappa was like "Why is that chick chasing after the gay guy instead of me?!"
It's funny that those situations are tip-toed around in adult US tv shows, while they're freely shown on Japanese children's TV.
But then again, this is also the cartoon based on a videogame series that had a crossdressing moose driving instructor and a fabulous hairdressing octopus.
