It wrote itself out. At the end Sonic and Elise go back in time and blow out the flame that would become Solaris, thus erasing all the events of the story.

What makes this hilarious is that the two games are complete thematic polar opposites.Blount wrote:Not quite. Heroes is connected to Shadow through story, graphics and gameplay (except one has team gimmicks and the other one has weapons).
Given its fondness for obnoxious voiceovers during the levels and the fact that the enemies have HP meters, I've always felt like it was third in a trilogy with Heroes and Shadow. The "unholy trinity", if you will. The 2006 game, however, is a unique pile of feces!

Sonic Colours DS references it, in a round about manner. If you get the best rank in the Blaze & Silver mission, Silver says to Blaze "It almost felt like we've paired up before", to which Tails responds "Wow, maybe you guys were partners somewhere, some time. I guess anything is possible!".Crowbar wrote:Sonic 06 is also officially non-canon, remember.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages
Well at any rate, that could be an off-handed explanation for why Blaze went from being Silver's friend in the future to being the princess of another dimension. The events that undid Sonic '06 transported her there with no memory.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages
I've not played Sonic 2006, but from what I understand Blaze's final scene in the game is when she seals herself into another dimension? I think we're supposed to gather that Blaze shifting dimensions transcends any changes to the space time continuum. So when Sonic and Elise rebooted the timeline it only affected Sonic's dimension, and not Blaze's new dimension. However the timeline changes brought about to Sonic's dimension would have prevented Blaze from travelling dimensions in the first place, so the universe fixed this by completely removing all traces and memories of Blaze's existence from Sonic's dimension. Subsequently Blaze ended up with a new history in her own dimension. Obviously.

Or simply forget Sonic 06's plot ever happened and the conundrum fixes itself.

There are two Blazes, one in each universe. Parallel universes anyway, might as well go the whole mile with that cliché.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages
I was about to bring this up!
But yes, Blaze seals herself into a different dimension at the end of the game so I do presume that this removes her from the space-time-continuum and thus from any changes made to it, including its entire erasure from history. Hence, I do believe that the Blaze from the Rush games is indeed the Blaze from Sonic 06. I’m not sure if she lost her memory, though being sent into a different dimension and sealing an apocalyptic primordial fire god inside your body might do that to you. Nonetheless, Blaze is a generally very quiet and reserved type, and she didn’t interact much with Sonic during 06, so when she meets him again in Rush she might simply not trust him yet and thus deny knowing him. An unknown period of loneliness in an unfamiliar world probably also made her even more shut off to others, hence her inability to trust anyone, although she was a close friend of Silver once.
Another reason I believe there is only one Blaze is that because Sonic’s universe does not have one any more. In Sonic Rivals, Silver travels back into the past in order to stop Eggman Nega from turning everyone into playing card, and in Rivals 2 his future (and past) has been changed and Silver travels back in time again, this time to prevent Eggman Nega from unleashing a different (and Chao-eating) apocalyptic primordial fire god. (Why do I get the feeling Sonic’s world is doomed no matter what?) In neither case, he ever makes mention of Blaze, and never meets her; it is of course possible that she was simply not born as the result of these alterations of history, but why would an incarnation of Silver be present in all futures then? I thus conclude that she was removed from the timeline completely.
The only inconsistency would be Eggman Nega—in Rush, he is simply a guy from a different dimension, while in Rivals he is a descendant of Dr. Robotnik. Are these two different Eggmen Negas? If they were the same it would either mean that he can travel through the dimensions, or that Blaze’s alternate dimension is the future where Silver also lives, but the latter isn’t possible since then Blaze and Silver would definitely have met during their battles with Eggman Nega, and further Blaze’s world is not affected by what happens in Sonic’s world—it therefore must be a separate dimension.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages
Sonic Colours DS is the only game since Sonic 2006 to have Blaze and Silver interact in the story mode. They make it very clear that Blaze is from an alternate dimension, Silver is from the future, and they don't recognise each other. Just as Sonic and Blaze didn't recognise each other in Sonic Rush, and Sonic and Silver didn't recognise each other in Sonic Rivals. Given Blaze's status as a princess and references to a lonely childhood in the Rush games it would seem that her entire lifespan was transferred over to her new universe when she was erased as a time anomaly from Sonic's universe. Eggman Nega doesn't even remotely make sense though.

I know we can pretty much count on shadow, but what do you guys think the chances are in all seriousness of silver and blaze showing up in generations. I think there's a much bigger chance of seeing both of them than I'd ever like to admit.

I'd honestly like to see Blaze in a game again. But if that means having to see ol' squid-forehead, I don't know...
Blaze has been in a lot of games since she first appeared and I haven't played any with Silver. If they're really giving homage to Sonic's history they've got to be in there though. Maybe they'll have another Sonic Museum that features them in some way.

Ha! Made it back in time to play!
Scrap Brain (S1)
Chemical Plant (S2)
Angel Island (S3)
Ice Cap (S3)
Death Egg (S&K)
Speed Highway (SA1)
City Escape (SA2)
I didn't want to guess a Casino level because there's so many for them to choose from. I'm a little unsure about Angel Island, but the thought of remaking that bombing sequence might tempt them.

If Tails and Knuckles are playable in classic stages, then I would say Shadow and Blaze would be the best fits to be playable for the modern stages.Radrappy wrote:I know we can pretty much count on shadow, but what do you guys think the chances are in all seriousness of silver and blaze showing up in generations. Again if hub levels turn up I reckon that you'll probably see most if not all of Sonic's buddies. Probably even take missions from them. It would be nice if they were styled depending on which Sonic you are playing as.

What was that, Bingo Highway? I didn't like the floaty pinball physics of that stage at all.Arcade wrote:Mine is that plus the Pinball level on Heroes, is the only part I really enjoyed of the game...

Casino Park wasn't tremendously offensive, in spite of the mega-buggy pinball physics, but Bingo Highway was ruthless alright. It was fun if you could avoid getting screwed by the physics but that's tough. In fact, if you want to see the stage at the height of its' terror, look up the Super Hard mode version on youtube - now that was bullshit.

The thing with Super Hard Mode in Sonic Heroes is that it wasn't really that hard compared to all you had to do to get it unlocked.

I can't help but notice that some of you jerks haven't posted your guesses yet. Get on it! I'm sure they'll reveal another stage by or at E3, and once they do it will be too late for you to participate and possibly win this fabulous prize I picked.

Chemical Plant (water level)
Metropolis (hard level)
Carnival Night (barrel level)
Sandopolis (sand level)
Death Egg (space level)
Speed Highway (iconic SA level)
Metal Harbor (fun level)
I don't think CD will have any representation, and I'm unfamiliar with anything post-Dreamcast except the Advance games, which don't count.
There are a few levels I'd really like to see, but whose inclusion I hold in doubt: Angel Island, Flying Battery, Crazy Gadget... And then there are the levels I want simply for the music and accompanying remixes: Mystic Cave, Oil Ocean, Pyramid Cave...

Aside from Green Hill, which we know will be in..
Chemical Plant (If it's not included, i'll be pissed. It's one of my favorites)
Lava Reef
Angel Island (Knuckles debut. Again, i'll be pissed if this isn't in. The wildfire that takes place in Act 2 would look amazing with 360/Ps3 graphics)
Emerald Coast (Sonic's 3D debut)
Hydrocity
City Escape (Pretty much confirmed at this point)
Scrap Brain (If Classic Eggman is in this game, this level is a given)

OK, Gahwd!
Mystic Cave
Hyrdrocity
Lava Reef
Sky Deck
Pyramid Cave
Casino Park
Eggman Land
Complete shots in the dark, especially with Heroes & Unleashed (neither of which I have played).
I love spelunking and would lament the absence of both Mystic Cave and Lava Reef.

Working from the idea that the stages will follow chronological order and be limited to one per game:
Chemical Plant
Ice Cap
Lava Reef (SHUT UP IT COULD HAPPEN)
Emerald Coast
City Escape
That one Casino Night ripoff level from Heroes, not the pinball one, the other one
Asteroid Coaster (they need to finish in space if they want to do this proper, though I like Aquarium Park more
I should probably change Lava Reef, but I just want it so bad.
ALSO: Senbei, like hell they're including Sandopolis. Everyone hates the ghosts. Everyone.

That's exactly why it should be in! Same reason I chose Carnival Night and Metropolis, and same reason why I want Crazy Gadget (though I doubt they would go this far).
I hope Emerald Coast, Emerald Hill, Mushroom Hill, or whatever other "first stages" aren't included at the expense of other levels. Iconic and enjoyable as these levels are, I don't want to have too many easy introduction stages. Angel Island is the exception to this.

Re: Guess the Sonic Generations Stages
I picked Lava Reef because I think it's really likely. Lava levels are a stereotype but it makes sense to include one to keep things diverse, and it's a really good pick imo out of S&K, whereas most other games I would pick other stages over the lava ones. It's also a really neat stage, they could do transitions in and out of the "cool" act 2 version, show the crashed Death Egg, and maybe even integrate elements from Hidden Palace (like the Mural). And I want it so bad.I should probably change Lava Reef, but I just want it so bad.

If Lava Reef shows up, I wonder if we'd get Hidden Palace as well? It would make sense since it's basically a palette swap and the nostalgia factor is pretty high.
