Well I can definitely get behind a Mega Man game with Little Big Planet's degree of creative possibilities. I just wonder what the hell was up with Ryu, Arthur and all those Capcom arcade games in there.

Multiple (every?) incarnations of Mega Man confirmed, including the infamous U.S. Boxart Mega Man. No word on the chrome European Mega Man.

Since when was Megaman an ugly model edit of Rockman?

I was going to ask "Why is Inafune referring to 'Megaman' and not 'Rockman'?" but having watched the trailer I now understand.

Incidentally, I recently picked up the Megaman Official Complete Works art book from Forbidden Planet (I was mainly there to get the very rare volumes 5 & 6 of the Dark Horse run of Akira). It's really nice!

I like this a lot. I wish Sega would pander to hardcore fans like Capcom does.

Abercrombie? Seriously? I know he doesn't go into work dressed like that. I would not have any less respect for the man if he did this video in a business suit.

They do, you are just looking at the wrong games.

Also outside of the comedy of having that ugly Megaman old man, this game actually looks really ugly. I also hope it is not developed by the ones who made Megaman 10, as that was pretty bad.

You mean the game that fixed many of the problems with Mega Man 9's unfair difficulty and cheap-ass level design, while also providing a much better soundtrack in the process? After 10, I've barely touched 9 since. Sorry for the page bump.

Y'know, I liked 9 better, though that may have had less to do with anything about the game and more to do with the novelty of a new 8-bit Megaman wearing off right away. If they do an 11 I hope it's a long ways off.

The level design and music was worse in 10 compared to 9, so uh... yeah!

I basically gave up on the desert level because it was so stupid and full of cheap deaths. I do not really have much patience for frustrating level design and the bad extras/DLC never enticed me to continue (I did beat it on Easy with Protoman, but that was not very fun).

If it helps understand my opinion, I thought Megaman 4, 5, and 6 were unplayable garbage with zero appealing aspects.

I hate 4 a lot. The NES series should've ended after 3. And 7 and 8 are nigh unplayable to me, personally.

The desert pits are a cinch to avoid in Commando Man's level with practice. (Especially considering that you can jump from the sides of the pit to save yourself.) In fact, the game as a whole is much, much easier than 9 on default difficulty; I can't understand why you'd find anything hard in it. Nothing like the inane level design of Hornet Man's cheap instant-death spikes, or Jewel Man's platforms you have to move left and right on & Galaxy Man's teleporting sections, both of with can result in instant death in if you're one pixel off on your jumps. Tornado Man's level with the magnet platforms aren't fun at all, either.

I guess I'll never understand you.

He likes to troll but likes scathing sarcasm significantly more, and is so high on mixing the two that he apparently doesn't know when to stop doing either, so it's difficult (to the point of not being worth the trouble) to tell where the bullshit ends and the actual opinion begins.

Gee, that wasn't hard.

I doubt it's sarcasm in this case. Especially on the 4-6 comment, which seems to be the universal opinion of Mega Man fans.

Mega Man 10 is the only Mega Man game in the main series I haven't beat. I got to Wily's Fortress and I think I beat the Weapon Archive stage but I don't think I got much farther than that after. I guess I don't have the patience for beating a Wily Fortress in one sitting anymore.

I also think that perhaps they should should prettify it a bit, I think 2 games that mimic the old look is enough. I don't mind the 8-bit resolution (it's probably better that way, something feels lost when it becomes a higher resolution), but I do wish they wouldn't limit themselves to only the NES palette of colors.

Well, it's on the web page: http://www.capcom.co.jp/megaman_universe/index.html

But they don't give any reasons. Maybe it's only been cancelled for the Japanese market, but the page says that development has been suspended.

I wasn't really that interested in it myself, but I can't imagine why they would've cancelled it. Seems like it would be easy as pie (and cheap) to develop and equally easy to sell.

One wonders about the fate of Mega Man Legends 3. Apparently they haven't even gotten it greenlit yet.

There goes my chance to play as Bad Box Art Mega Man. :'(

Think about it.

If they released this game, you could recreate any classic or possible MM game without buying it from Capcom.

Capcom selling MM games on compilation or download?

Screw that, Mega Man Universe.

Capcom announces MM11.

Screw that, I'll remake it in MM Universe.

Etc.

And how would one recreate MM11 without MM11 Robot Masters and their respective weapons (not to mention MM11-specific gimmicks)?

If you have the first 10 games worth of their respective weapons, you have all the MM weapons you'd ever need to make any game. It's not like MM5-10 haven't had palette-swapped versions of old weapons for decades. Oh yay, another Robot Master with a spinning shield.
