See, this is what really kills me about Alex- it's not his behavior, but the fact that he actually thinks he's got a leg to stand on and that there are enough thick twats out there to enable him. He thinks he's god's gift to the world because he's the only journalist out there with the inclination to take the works of Nietzsche, Baudrillard, Schopenhauer, et al. and warp their context so he can draw tenuous connections between them and games, and that doesn't call for intellectual brilliance so much as patience. You know what Alex really is? An aspie on the internet. I'm not even trying to be flip with this; he's so obviously on the autism spectrum that I really can't fault him for acting the way he does. Elevated grasp of the written word? Typical, and all too useful for creating the illusion of a heightened intellect. Philosophy is particularly appealing to him because of his rigid, rational mindset. His spiteful and malicious behavior is a direct result of his inherent lack of empathy. I'm sure he'd claim otherwise, but he desperately craves attention, and boy does he know how to get it! The internet, being a purely textual and anonymous medium, alleviates his inability to socialize in reality and gives him leeway to speak at his leisure. It's the perfect medium for him to grandstand by combining his woefully narrow interests (gaming and philosophy)- people come for his good taste in games and stay to bask in his apparent brilliance because he's just so good at looking like he knows what he's talking about. Granted, it takes a clever ass burger to successfully craft such a fertile habitat for the ego, but a genius he is not. So yeah, enjoy the exclusivity of Socrates' retreat- and all the pederasty that entails!
Also, the insinuation that Radiant Silvergun doesn't tie every Cave/Raizing/Psikyo shooter in a pretzel knot, insert its penis and tigerfuck them across the waxed gymnasium floor like a big gay bumper car causes me great physical pain. I'd be enthused to discuss this further.
