Right. The game is still in development. The E3 build is the same from GamesCon.j-man wrote:It's still the E3 build! That'll all be fixed before release, right guys?

About the Splash Hill theme.
Oh that Jun Senoue... That's what directors are for goddammit. That song could be so much better.Jun Senoue wrote:Sonic Team director Toshiyuki Nagahara really dislikes that song, though. He wanted me to compose a new one, but it was important to me, so I didn't change it (laughs).

I wonder if he also made similar recommendations about re-using an old discarded boss theme.Opa-Opa wrote:About the Splash Hill theme.

If he did, then someone needs to fire Jun Senoue quickly and delay the game by another couple of months so that someone who listens to advice can actually produce something remotely listenable.

I like the concept of fans making better games, on their spare time, then people employed by Sega.

There were conditions, remember. I'll have to go back and look at my post, but I know one of them was an average score of at least 75.
So, in answer to your question, it doesn't look like I will be.
We'll have to wait and see.

True, but I'd say chances are good that watching that video over and over will be more fun than Sonic 4 could ever hope to be.

I love the idea of using true 2.5D for an entire, and original, Sonic game. Get some creative people working on it, and I'm sure you could exploit that particular characteristic for some great gameplay and level design. They've already done that somewhat in Unleashed.

We need a "Like" button for commentaries like this. =DMiraiTails wrote:True, but I'd say chances are good that watching that video over and over will be more fun than Sonic 4 could ever hope to be.
Man, I miss tiny little dancing mushrooms. I remember on Sonic Adventure there were some platforms in Windy Valley that had tiny dandelion flowers that would release its windborne seeds. When I played SA DX for PC and Gamecube, they weren't there. Still today I have no idea why that awesome little detail made it into the Dreamcast but didn't make it into the (apparently graphically superior) GC and PC iterations.

That's just a movie. Not an actual game.

All video games are actually movies.

It's still better than the discussion over at Retro, though.

I suggest staying away from the bottom of the internet, it smells bad.

Don't worry! I only really visit it for the hacks and the research on the games. But Kogen is right, and sometimes the shit starts leaking into other topics and then I have to stop browsing those too and... yeah, I don't blame you for sticking to our lil' slice of heaven, here.Crowbar wrote:I don't go to any other Sonic sites any more, so I wouldn't know.

Lost Labyrinth trailer. Looks good I guess? I'm sure someone is itching to disagree. I really like that running animation.
