I remember seeing that a long time ago. Head tracking would be awesome on some Wii games.

Also Mega64 is awesome. Didn't get the Weezer joke though.

Weezer's like Sonic now insofar as they were once pretty great but kinda suck and people still support them out of habit.

Sega would look at a video like that and come to one conclusion. "People are tired of waiting for new Sonic games. We need to make more of them at a faster rate."

You know I never liked that restaurant. Seemed like it took forever to get my food the 2 times I went there.

I'm pretty sure it's the only place you can get a foot long chili-cheese dog. The cheddar peppers are pretty awesome, too.

Can we get back to Sega's failings, people?

Sure, we just have to wait until someone leaks/hacks the website for another tiny morsel of information from this unfinished product. Then let the complaints fly!

Ages ago. Keep up!

Okay, bear with me here. How plausible of a scenario is this: yes, the game is completely finished, months ahead of schedule. The reason it was put out for testing was literally for laughs, and the game will not change in the very slightest. The next few months of development time will be spent...erm...

No, I can't carry on. It's just too silly. I'm not quite sure why some people insist on leaping in with HEADS UP GUYS THIS IS THE FINISHED GAME GODDAMNIT SEGA. Like, really? Are you sure about that?

...marketing. It's very easy to create buzz about a game ahead of its release date when it is more or less done.

Also, putting it out for testing this early isn't anything new. All the Sega Vintage stuff they release on XBLA comes out early on Partnernet and then screenshots turn up on the internet.

Oh hey, right on cue, another leak, this time the Achievements (source):
The Story Begins
Clear SPLASH HILL ZONE, ACT 1. (5)

Crush Dr. Eggman
Defeat a boss for the first time. (5)

The First Chaos Emerald
Acquire a Chaos Emerald. (5)

Enemy Hunter
Defeat 1,000 enemies. (10)

Golden Flash
Clear all Acts as Super Sonic. (10)

All Stages Cleared!
Defeat the final boss and view the ending. (10)

Contender
Upload your recorded scores and clear times for all stages. (10)

Ring Collector
Collect all the Rings in ‘Special Stage 1′ and Clear the stage. (15)

Immortal
Build up 99 or more extra lives. (25)

Super Sonic Genesis
Acquire all seven Chaos Emeralds. (30)

Speed’s My Game
Clear SPLASH HILL ZONE ACT 1 in less than a minute. (35)

Untouchable
Clear the E.G.G. STATION ZONE without taking any damage. (40)
In summary, Super Sonic in regular stages, and there's at least one more Zone than we expected, though E.G.G. Station might turn out to be similar to Doomsday, given that there's no Act attached to it.

I really hate the inclusion of achievements that you'd get just through the course of playing the game normally.

Ugh, yes. So many games have given me points for getting through the opening/tutorial. Ridiculous.

In the case of Xbox Live games, I'm pretty sure it's some kind of policy to include an achievement in the demo to encourage a full purchase.

I like achievements that show your progress in the game. I made it to level 4 on this day, etc.

Demos do not give you achievements.

"You have earned an achievement. Purchase the full game to add it to your gamerscore."

Or something to that effect.
