Re: The cupcake is not a lie!
There are a lot of things about our childhoods that were phased out. Some good. Some not so much. But yes, cartoon mascots appear to be one of those things.
Some, anyway. Sonny's still cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs, the Trix rabbit is still silly, they're still after his Lucky Charms, etc. Others like that chef guy from Cinnamon Toast Crunch or that weird no-torso Honey Combs mascot have gone the way of the dodo, remaining only on the packaging (if that). The police/crook/dog trio from Cookie Crisp got replaced with some wolf in a hoodie. I think Cap'n Crunch is still around, but damned if I ever see his commercials anymore.
But Honey Bear? That lizard thing from Smacks? Count Chocula? They're gone.

Re: The cupcake is not a lie!
I dated this Canadian chick a few years back, and she had all these crazy cereals that I'd only ever seen in comic book ads. I'll tell you this for free; the "kids" can keep their Trix, it's godawful. Froot Loops is another offender, all that corn-syrupy artificial FLAVOR. Coco Pops had a banana version a while back, that was mad delicious. Ricicles are another excellent idea. Other than that, our cereal selection is fairly sparse. I've never once had Pebbles of any variety, more's the pity.
On the subject of mascots, I still maintain that Coco Monkey and Tony the Tiger are in a homosexual relationship together. Tony's the catcher.

Re: The cupcake is not a lie!
The ads with the kids transforming into Honey Monsters freaked me out when I was young.

The original Honey Monster is still far more appealing than the current version.

Since when Brazil sells junk to Japan?Green Gibbon! wrote:I don't think a day has gone by since I came here that hasn't had at least a few moments devoted to bemoaning the cereal situation in this country. But this evening I walked into Universe and what should my sugary-oat starved eyes behold but this:
It's caramel flavored chocolate rings. With banana balls!!!
I bought two boxes (which roughly equals one normal sized American box but costs 4 times as much). I shall post impressions later.

For the record, I've never seen that cereal around here. Ever.

Arcade's comment feels vaguely racist.

Also for the record, we don't have any "Playstacions" around here.
