Weren't there gender difficulties with Tails, due to "Tail" being a feminine noun (cola)?

Yes in Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog there was, Sonic liked to call him "hermanita" which means sister.

They did change his gender in the Spanish dub (and possibly some others), but I don't see how that could have been related to his name. That'd be like changing the Phantom Blot's gender in Portuguese-speaking countries, because his name is translated to a female noun and adjective (Mancha Negra, meaning Dark Blot). I could be totally wrong, but that'd be a pretty stupid reason, I think.

Our sub (not dub) of AoStH called him Caudas, which is also feminine, but they kept his original gender. My brother and I just called him Peidas (Asses).

In Portugal, Mancha Negra is still male.

I know, that's what I was implying. You don't change a character's gender because of his name, or at least you shouldn't.

Yeah, exactly.

The only time you should change a character's gender is for justification of homosexual desire.

Or to avoid it, which was the case with Sailor Moon's Spanish dub... or at least they tried, there was no way around the Starlights' literal sex change, I guess.

At least the AoStH dub bettered the product by renaming Scratch to "Gallo-tronic", something like Cock-o-tronic.

From Sonic Retro, regarding how they think Sonic should be redesigned for Project Needlemouse:

Yes, a Japanese voice is so much better than a baka gaijin English voice. Disgusting. I shudder at the mere thought.

I think this is pretty hot. Of course it's probably not actually going to happen, knowing our good ol' gee wiz buddy pal Sega.

Oh yeah, it's really good. Pretty damn hard to see the usual telltale signs of a Photoshop. Rather hope that's the kind of Sonic we see in Needlemouse, although I'll hardly lose sleep over it if it isn't.

It's hard to see the pixels over the JPEG artifacting.

I entirely agree. TSSZ rhetoric is all the Sonic fandom needs. These Retro n00bz are useless.

THIS. I never knew how much I hated the SA redesign until I saw this. Still, this kind of thing goes beyond even "rampant speculation" and on to a whole new level, and I strongly suspect a great many people will be disappointed. Really, they're just setting themselves up for a fall.

Do I? Let's see.

You jump into every thread, derailing it with your fapping to everything remotely classic-Sonic, much to the ire of most of the people here, and the sheer amusement of everyone else. You expect agreement, yet instead constantly get made fun of, and somehow expect a different result from this despite doing the same thing over and over again. Despite bitching about how you can no longer put up with it, how we're all simpletons who don't understand Sonic on the same wavelengths as you do and how you should've left ages ago, you apparently lack the balls to actually go through with your empty "threat" and actually find another board that will take you seriously. You also fail to realize how to formulate all your thoughts at once or any sense of forum etiquette whatsoever and have to post three times in a row to compensate.

Sounds about right.
