Master System animation

Post by Opa-Opa »

I've been fiddling around with game design, pixel art and animation lately, and came up with an intro for a non-existant Master System game named "Take me to your leader". The concept is that it is like a reverse Space Invaders, where you are the ship destroying the buildings. Kinda like Rampage but flying.

Corny text and mistranslations galore. The music is a bit off in the end though.

Anyway, here it is. I think it's pretty good, but I'm a bit biased. Enjoy.

I'd play that.

You've also reminded me how lovely the Master System/Game Gear bleeps and boops sound to my nostalgia-clogged ears.

Yes. I know what you mean. I'd take the Master System soundchip over the NES' any day.

You really nailed the SMS feel with this. It's a bit of a tease because now I want to play it.

And yes, the console had an awesome sound chip. I wouldn't mind knowing how to compose those chiptunes.

It sounds quite a bit like a Game Boy Color game to me, but that's probably my nostalgia talking. Looks really nice. =D I wonder if you could find an interested party with SMS hacking skills to make a game out of it. :\

The dialogue is too grammatically correct. If you'd make it look like a bad translation with only two lines of text instead of four, it'd really look genuine.

Yeaaah... I was kinda counting on my own gramatical mistakes, you know, English not being my mother tongue and all. I did try to use some cheesy sci-fi words like "Intergalactic" and such. Maybe I should simplify the story. I just have no idea how.

A story in which the pro/antagonistic roles of humans and aliens are switched really is kind of hard to simplify without losing the appeal of the twist... maybe you should just reduce the vocabulary and number of words per phrase.

Great work, by the way!

As far as grammar goes, you could change the possessive in the "world leaders' hearts" line to "world leader's hearts" or "world leaders hearts." Also, mess around with commas, since, the more commas you, have, the more, grammatically correct, you are. You could even go so far as to throw in a semicolon.

Needless to say, it looks great.

Arcade has a point. And by that I mean he should write the introductory text.

Would doing a combo breaker here just be adding the the "Break Combos with Combo Breaker" combo? What happens if I break that? Some sort of Bayfieldian paradox?
