About that, did you watch E3 2006 Live on G4? Adam Sessler interviewed Simon Jeffery and it went something along the lines of this...2) The people now in charge of the series make the games targeting new gamers ALL THE FUCKING TIME
Adam: "Hey, um, about your classic franchises, namely Sonic, um, yeah, recent Sonic games have not been doing well critically, for instance, Shadow and Sonic Riders, they have not been hitting home. What do you have to say about that?"
Simon: "Well, back when the original Sonic came out fifteen years ago, it was popular with children as well with adults. But lately, Sonic has been a kid-oriented franchise, but with SONIC the Hedgehog for the 360, we are aiming mostly for the hardcore who were there fifteen years ago. Stuff like Shadow the Hedgehog and Sonic Riders were made for the kids, blah blah blah, but with this game, SEGA is looking itself in the mirror and back fifteen years ago, etcetera, etcetera."
I found the "Shadow was made for the kids" part funny, but by "the kids", Simon was probably refering to as "MTV generation Junior High School students". I still no justification for Shadow driving a Hummer. That was not fifteen years ago dude. Sure, leave a little something for "the kids" if you like, just as long as you are still catering mostly for us please.
