I still kind of like 7, myself
I don't really hate Final Fantasy, but it would be better if Square wasn't so stubborn with the franchise to cater it to a single demographic(teens to people in the young 20's) that a certain entry was screwed over due to excutive meddling.

I liked DQVIII, but boy I've never played a game that's made me doze off into sleep so many times while playing it. The music is just... so relaxing and makes me sleeeeepy. But more RPGs need to imitate its world map.
