MOROBOSHIIIIIIII
Translation, please. What is this, a new movie? When's it being shown and/or released on DVD?

Judging from the dates listed, it looks like a short OVA series or something like that (maybe the first few episodes of a new TV season?). They'll also show Ranma ½ and InuYasha stuff.

Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
I don't understand anything in this thread.
Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
It's a new episode that was supposed to be shown at an exhibit celebrating Rumiko Takahashi's 30 years of doing manga, but they had to delay it because it wasn't completed. A new episode of Ranma 1/2 and Inuyasha were shown at the exhibit this summer. Pictures from the exhibit can be found here. Of particular note is the scale model of Maison Ikkoku and other manga artist's renditions of Lum.
The opening animation of the exhibit features characters from all three series interacting with each other, including Ataru harassing Ranma and Kagome to go on dates with him. He even carries around a cell phone and asks for their email!
I think it's kind of interesting that the voice actors sound the same even after 20 something years.

UY is the only work she's ever done that I've liked.

Oh. My. GOD. I don't often get excited about anime--I've been watching it more often these days, but UY is the only one, I think, that's ever really "clicked" with me.Protodude wrote:The opening animation of the exhibit features characters from all three series interacting with each other, including Ataru harassing Ranma and Kagome to go on dates with him. This video is pure joy.

While watching that video I imagined GG! in Ataru's place and my mind locked up.

Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
Ataru's been my role model pretty much for the past 10 years. I'm not sure if that's obvious or not.
I saw that clip a few weeks ago and I watched it, like, three dozen times in a row, grinning like a big, fat moron the whole time.
I wonder how many of the original actors will be returning for the new UY? Hirano and Furukawa obviously, both sounding none the worse for wear after two decades. Kamiya has to return as Mendou, he's the only man in the world who can do the job. I prefer to think that any characters that would've had to be changed would've just been excluded from the script.

In that new Yatterman series I know the three villains are voiced by the original actors, and that's been, like, 30 years. They're all in their 70's which is funny and awesome all at once.I think it's kind of interesting that the voice actors sound the same even after 20 something years.

Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
I think the only thing of hers that I've ever gotten into was the dub of InuYasha.
Although I think I read a chapter or two of Ranma in the past, and I'll admit, it's an interesting concept.

I still need to buy and read the rest of Ranma 1/2. It was pretty awesome.

I need to find out if anyone's gone and tried to sub the new Ranma and InuYasha shorts yet. [/massive nerdlinger]
Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
I wonder how much one's voice really changes after they've past adolescence. I've been thinking lately that maybe people only sound older or younger based on their choice of words and way they say it, not on their characteristic voice itself (I'm not a linguist so I don't know how to put it right). This can date them to being from a certain time and having a certain energy level, which we associate with a certain age.Green Gibbon! wrote:In that new Yatterman series I know the three villains are voiced by the original actors, and that's been, like, 30 years. It's just something I've been wondering about lately.

A lot of the older folks I know (and Bob Dylan) sound a lot raspier and/or feeble, but I wonder if that's a byproduct of them being adults in a time when smoking was supposedly harmless.

Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
It depends entirely on your health. We all sound different when we have a cold or are tired or just not feeling well. The older a person is, the more likely it is that they are not well. *shrug*
Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
If I say I have no clue what's going on does that make me any less of a person?

Of course someone who's NOT HIP would say that.
Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
I feel like I am missing out on something when my only exposure to Urusei Yatsura was the movie Beautiful Dreamer. At the same time, after being exposed to Ranma 1/2 and Inu-Yasha years ago, I feel I'm really not.

Re: The biggest news in this forum's history
The Urusei Yatsura TV series is completely different in feel to the movies. It's a lot more humorous and random.
I believe anything and everything must be a lot more humorous and random than most Mamoru Oshii directed flicks. Not that they're bad or anything.
And I think the one element that puts UY well over Takahashi's other works is Ataru's character. I haven't seen one quite like him in the stable roster of neither Ranma ½ nor InuYasha.
