This small, lush island is where Sonic first encountered his soon-to-be sidekick, Miles "Tails" Prower. In search of a suitable vacation spot, Sonic flew into the resort in his biplane, the Tornado, and soon realized he was being followed. His pursuer turned out to be a shy young fox with two tails, fascinated by Sonic's speed and even more fascinated by the Tornado.

According to the folklore of the island, it was once the home of a flourishing civilization who built their society upon seven mystical stones with legendary power. However, their prosperity lead to avarice, which did not sit well with the gods. The displeased deities reclaimed the stones and sealed them away from the people.
