A date for Green Gibbon!

Post by big_smile »

I found these magazines advertisements and reviews which give the European release dates for some of the games that do not have them in the museum pages (click on each name for the ad/article).

Sonic 3 – February 24 1994
Sonic & Knuckles – October 10 1994
NiGHTS – (which, coincidentally, includes a Sonic X-treme article) September 5 1996
Xmas NiGHTS (not really a release date, but it shows the third way European consumers were able to obtain the game)
Sonic Jam – August 28 1997
Burning Rangers – April 26 1998

The following dates are from Amazon.co.uk, which seem to correlate with the release dates I had on my pre-order receipts/calendars (click on each name for the page)

Sonic Shuffle - March 10 2001
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle –May 3 2002 (apparently, according to this article, SoE released it before the launch of the Gamecube)
Sonic Advance - March 8 2002
Sonic Advance 2 – March 28 2003
Sonic Adventure DX – June 27 2003

I also scanned some of the European game cases (click on each name for the image):
Sonic Adventure
Sonic Shuffle
Sonic Mega Collection
Sonic Adventure DX
Billy Hatcher
(Incidentally, both the European Giant Egg and Adventure DX came with a bonus ring tone)
Sonic Battle

Here are the US boxes for Sonic Advance 1 & 2 (The ones on the museum pages are actually the European versions) (click on each name for the image).
Sonic Advance
Sonic Advance 2

While looking at the boxes I noticed that the European versions of PSO Episodes I & II, Advance 1 & 2, Mega Collection and Adventure 2 Battle were published by Infogrames (who have since been renamed Atari). All other European games were published by Sega Europe (apart from Advance 3, Battle and Pinball Party, which were published by THQ).

Hey, have you got bigger versions of those Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles Adverts?, so I could add them to SoST?

I'm pretty sure Burning Rangers was delayed. I think it was released before June 5 though. Or maybe a bit afterwards.

Yeah, I don't think the English language version of BR was out anywhere until May or June.

Thanks for the info. *is secretly disappointed* I guess this means I don't have to take a shower and shave.
