So who's going to martyr themselves and buy the Shadow game?

Someone pointed out the grinding was better in SA2 when you couldn't fall to your doom. Funny that one of the better levels in Sonic Heroes would be Rail Canyon ^_^
The thign with Shadow is we've always known since the first glimpse the sort of game we were going to get. It's actually had a few good ideas thrown at it but it's 'more of the same' as far as this generation of Sonic games goes. Rather humorously as well it seems to have been shown up by the blue one on the DS. A kind of master class in what Sonic games are supposed to be and what Sonic games aren't supposed to be, both released on the same day.

Hold on, I just read the entire review. The problem "Tom" seems to be having with Shadow is that the game is "so-so" when it comes to 3D platformers. Read.
Which is strage, because our gripes with SA2 and Heroes was that they were "below" what we would expect from 3D platform games. Hmm... I'll wait for more reviews to pour in. I plan on renting the game today, so I'll give my impressions when I'm done playing it. Yes, I am willing to put my sanity on the line for you.Shadow the Hedgehog doesn't really do anything new, and doesn't really give the impression anyone's trying particularly hard. Level design, combat, objectives, secrets, pacing, balance, play mechanics, difficulty curve, boss fights - even visuals - are all precisely the sort of thing we've come to expect from 3d platform games.

Well, despite the low score, the review sounded positive enough. There was never an instance where the author said outright, "This part sucked." It sounded more like it's using the same formula as SA2 and SH and the author just wasn't excited about that. I'll wait until Professor Machenstein comes back, with or without his brain cells intact.
Hmm...I wonder if any mall kiosks are playing it yet...
