Well, if it wasn’t because of the bad movies, we wouldn’t like the good ones so much. In the other hand, we may also think Disney is God if it wasnt because of the bad movies. So you see, bad movies prevent us from worshiping Disney like our accentors used to.

I agree. I hated Anchorman so very, very much. The first half was pure pain.
What was wrong with it? It was broad, silly, stupid comedy at its finest and it didn't pretend to be anything but.

Wrong, wrong, wrong. Look, I'm not intolerant of shitty SNL-alum comedies. I sat through Deuce Bigalow. I didn't flinch during Little Nicky. A Night at the Roxbury? No problem. It's dumb fun, I can handle that.

But Anchorman? It wasn't even funny in a stupid way... It was just painful. It holds the glorious honour of being the first movie I ever actually walked out on. After about the first 40 minutes I just couldn't take it anymore.

I hate to say this again, but I have to agree with Esrever. I recommended it to my parents over winter break because we were renting a lot of movies (long winter break), and I thought hey, Will Ferrell is decently funny, so this movie must be pretty good, yeah?

The movie taught me two things. One: Do more research before recommending movies to my parents. And myself, argh. I'm usually pretty good at being able to pick out what I know I'll like and not like, from looking at some reviews and asking friends and just trusting my own instinct. But man, did this one slap me in the face.

Second: Will Ferrell is incapable of carrying a whole movie on his own. He's funny in short bits like sketches and stuff, but his (lack of) acting ability was painfully apparent in Anchorman. His attempts at humor felt so forced pretty much throughout the entire movie. Argh, just thinking back to it makes me flinch.

I felt horrible for making my parents sit through that with me. As in I genuinely felt guilty and repentant. And yes, I actually did apologize to them after it was over. Ugh. That was one of the most uncomfortable 90 minutes ever. I kept hoping it would get funny.

You would put Deuce Bigalow and Little Nicky above Anchorman? Wow. I can honestly say you are the first person I've known with that opinion, but to each his own.

I'd ask what made you dislike it but you said you didn't even bother to watch all of it. So, what can I say? I'm sorry you didn't like the movie.

I really want to see Dodgeball, too. But then, I really wanted to see Anchorman as well. I like Ferrell a lot -- he usually manages to shine even in the shittiest movies -- but I just could not get in to this movie. It was just so... awkward, like going to watch an improv comedy show where everyone is tragically unfunny, and feeling embarassed for them. The only thing worse than the failing jokes is the long, long stretches the movie would go for without even attempting to make them at all.

I don't know, maybe there was a problem with the version I saw. It was the extended version or something, according to the box. Anyhow, I shut it off shortly after the dog got tossed off the bridge.

I liked Dodgeball, but it's the same sort of humor as Anchorman. Basically, if you didn't like Anchorman you probably won't like Dodgeball either.

There's only so many times you can see a spectacled kid getting hit in the face with a dodgeball before it stops being funny.

Never saw Anchorman, but I personally though it didn't look impressive. What is it about exactly?

I don't even really know. It was just another summer comedy, except it did have some genuinely funny moments, but between those it was just boring.

I would understand why you would hate it if you actually paid to see it.

Dodgeball wasn't too good either. I'm beginning to hate Ben Stiller with a passion.

I think him and Jude Law are having a contest to see who can appear in more movies annually.
