Voting according to principle is only going to turn America into a country controlled by small-minded, racist, warmongering, homophobic, Bible-sucking, jackasses who will draft people into meaningless wars and gleefully send them off to die in the name of conquest thinly disguised as "protecting freedom".

No-one's perfect. But Kerry seems a lot less dangerous than Bush.
...But hey! I'm British, so it's not my problem! Instead I get the ubersleazeball Micheal Howard who was the greasiest little smeg in the cabinet last time the tories were in power, or Tony Blair - who may seem like a decent guy but is not a decent PM by any stretch of the imagination. Oh, and there's the libdems, whoever they are.
Sorry, that's not helping.

Who was the last good president? As long as I've been alive, I've only seen a long list of idiots. Well... Reagan, I'm not wholly sure about. I wasn't too coherent during the years he reigned.
But.. Bush Senior, Clinton twice, and Dubya. Dubya is a dipshit. I don't want to see him again. On the other hand, Kerry is a terrifyingly mass of flesh-colored clay shaped to look like a defective man. Oh, and he's just about as bad as Dubya.

D'y'ever see Kerry's daughter? She's the spitting image of him. What's her name? The one that wore that semi-transparent skintight dress earlier in the year? That photo seriously disturbed me. She has a great body. You could see EVERYTHING. Stunning. With John Kerry's head.aso wrote: On the other hand, Kerry is a terrifyingly mass of flesh-colored clay shaped to look like a defective man. I want everyone to vote, I don't care how stupid they are. A 50% turnout is embarrassing and stupid.Locit wrote:Do we really want people who take advice from Burger King to vote?
I also want a Democracy, but that's neither here nor there.
So what do you reccomend I base my voting decision on, then?Zeta wrote:Voting according to principle is only going to turn America into a country controlled by small-minded, racist, warmongering, homophobic, Bible-sucking, jackasses who will draft people into meaningless wars and gleefully send them off to die in the name of conquest thinly disguised as "protecting freedom".
No matter which of the two major parties you vote for, you're giving up a set of liberties and right you shouldn't have to -- usually people vote for the lguy who gives them the stuff they want more. I want the government to keeps its nose out of my personal life, to spend its money on bettering the country as a whole instead of to a minority single mother with three kids who sits around and watches tv all day, to let me have as many fucking guns as I want, to not attack other countries for the hell of it, to not blatantly lie to me about, well, everything, to not 'take care of me' because I can fucking well take care of myself, to allow abortions and to gets its nose out of marriage. Who do I vote for?
I currently have two major ideals I want to fight for: gay rights, and limited government. Voting Democrat might help gay rights, but it certainly won't limit government. Voting Republican will do neither. Now, while voting Democrat obviously looks better, it's like deciding which pile of shit you want to eat: the big one or the small one. Which pile of shit do I eat?

I'm convinced the man is going senile. He's stupid, not evil.Zeta wrote:"After standing on the stage, after the debates, I made it veryThere's not going to be a draft if Bush is elected.

He "corrected" himself soon afterwards, but it seems like a gigantic fucking fruedian slip to me.

That's because you want to think that. It assures your already established viewpoint and makes it easier for you to make sweeping generalizations that allude to how Bush is Satan's offspring.
Seriously. I will never understand the extreme hate or love of any particular party or candidate by anyone. Why can't everyone just vote for who they want and not get so emotionally involved with the candidates? They aren't your friends, and don't give a damn about you so long as you give 'em the thumbs up.
This goes for the other side as well. My suitmate has assured me that he can think of no instance at all where he would change his mind and vote for Kerry. He is solidly opposed to the Democratic party and the only political research he does is to support the veiw he already holds.
I feel like I'm the only person voting honestly on this floor. Everyone else had their mind made up years before they knew the candidates.

Isn't that the intent? How better to state that you hate the current election system than to say you'd rather throw your vote into the toilet and then shit on it rather than vote for Bush or Kerry?Segaholic2 wrote:A vote for Badnarik or that Cobb guy is a vote thrown into the toilet, and then shat on.

Speaking of politics, take a look at Eminem's Mosh video, if you haven't already. Interesting go-vote/anti-Bush propoganda.

I think the biggest thing to consider, even if you do like Bush, is if you really trust him - or anyone, for that matter - with as much power as he would have, were he re-elected.
Obviously, as a lame duck, he would have nothing to worry about when making a decision. No matter what he does, he's going to serve out four years and then that's that for this administration (since Cheney has stated numerous times there's no chance he would run).
After next Tuesday, if Bush wins, they will not care what you think at all (not that they really do now). There is not going to be any questionnaire asking your opinion on whether they should invade another country (which, they can deny it all they want, but if we get involved with another country - say, I don't know, Iran or Korea - there WILL be a draft), on gay rights, on anything. It won't matter.
This isn't to say that Kerry is going to be the second coming, either. He's a douche, too, and I'm not wild about some of his policies; although, please, if you have any sense at all, refrain from using that flip flop bullshit. For any politician at all to try and claim that they are any less "flip flopish" is ridiculously hypocritical and there are plenty of instances where Bush himself has been just as bad or worse than they advertise Kerry to be. Your eighth grade government class should have taught you that voting on bills, especially in the Senate, is just a little bit more complex than the TV ads would have you to believe.
So, yeah, I'll be voting for Kerry on November 2nd, even though I actually agree more with Michael Badnarik's ideas and policies. That's the unfortunate part about leaning towards the liberal end of the spectrum; by definition, we are progressive minded thinkers. Therefore, it's harder to unite under one candidate because liberals tend to be more individualistic. But it's all about baby steps. I'd love for libertarians and other third parties to get more publicity and national recognition, but let's avoid turning into an absolute monarchy first, alright? Voting third party, especially in this election, is kinda like those retarded goth kids in high school that would consider themselves superior to the Abercrombie zombies, yet they'd shop exclusively at Hot Topic. In the end, you're really just buying from the same company.
...
...Fuck. And I promised myself I wasn't going to talk about politics anymore.

That's like saying that since you don't like the two provided flavors of ice cream: chocolate or vanilla, you're going to eat yourself a nice, warm bowl of your own feces. Awesome point, genius. Your only two real choices are going to be chocolate or vanilla anyway, because nobody else is going to choose poop and so poop isn't going to become the favorite flavor... But you just end up with a mouth full of turd. Yeah, you made your point by saying you hate both chocolate and vanilla, but everyone else is still laughing at you.CE wrote:Isn't that the intent?
