It's a hoax. That's just offical art from the second game.

However despite the blahness of Nintendo's conference, Mario Galaxy looked more exciting over the sea of FPS that were showcased this year. This game along with echochrome and LittleBigPlanet seem to be the most interesting games at E3 so far, though WiiFit recieves the special "WTF!?!" award.

E3 always was a pain in the balls, I had to wait 6 months before and after it to hear any interesting news. I like the spread out announcement much better, I can wake up n the morning on what seems to be a totally normal day and suddenly be blown away with earth shattering news that I didn't know was coming

And I think Reggie makes up stupid phrases and weird stuff just so he can hear people bitch.

May I add Forever Blue to that list?

This E3 wasn't big on surprises, but there were definitely a lot of really incredible looking games on display. It's just that the vast majority of them are ones we already knew about!

Of the games that were announced at (or at least very close to) the convention, the only three that really caught my eye were the aforementioned Endochrome, the promising-but-very-early De Blob and the new Wii-original Trauma Center game. (Co-op surgery, man!)

But even if there weren't a lot of new announcements... man, it really reminded me of how many legitimately brilliant-looking games are coming down the pipe. Mario has really surprised me by taking my top most-desired spot, with Metroid Prime 3 now only a close second, but there's tons more promising stuff... Little Big Planet, Assassin's Creed, Geometry Wars Galaxies, Forever Blue, Resident Evil 5, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Phoenix Wright 3, and now the three newbies above, too!

It's been awhile since there have been so many titles on the way that have actually interested me! And thankfully at least some of them are coming out on systems I actually own. :)

Assassin's Creed definitely makes the top of the list for me. There are some games I love for their simplicity and style, like ICO, and there are games that I love for their detail and depth. Assassin's Creed looks like the epitome of the latter. Everything, from the crowd mechanics and individual NPCs to the freerunning to the fighting system, looks simultaneously extravagant, gorgeous, intricate, and a hell of a lot of fun. I don't think I've ever been so excited for a game.

The last few videos finally won me over on Galaxy. Like, just today. It was actually the bee suit! It just looks fun! Wild!

I'm oddly compelled by the new Metal Gear trailer, though experience has taught me to not to be fooled by amazing trailers of a Metal Gear sequel no one has played yet. I bet it would make a great movie, though!

Little Big Planet continues to impress, especially with the new videos of the editing mode. Giving the player a physical base in the editing process via their little avatar looks like a great idea, and it feels strongly reminiscent of the old Genesis Sonic debug modes- which is good, because I spent hours playing around and making crazy stuff I wanted to save somewhere but couldn't.

I want Echo Chrome desperately and am ever-thankful that it will be on the PSP.

You know, I thought it was madness that Nintendo made WiiFit the centerpiece of their presser. But considering that the goal of a press conference is to encourage a lot of, you know, press coverage... I guess maybe they know what they are doing.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 02149.html

It is not very hard to find other articles like this one in the mainstream press right now. Nintendo sure has figured out how to press these guys' buttons. It might not have been the kind of presser that the gaming press likes, but they're not the ones that need to be tricked into covering it.

Phoenix Wright 3 isn't new, though, it's 3 years old.

I don't recall him saying it was new, just that it was "promising".

Anyway, <a href="http://www.jeuxvideo.com/jeux/videos/00 ... apparently just being "a guy in a mask" is obectionable</a>. And Godot is still quite suave, despite his smooth theme tune not being in the trailer.

The future tense of the word insinuates that it's something that has yet to happen.

Well, the English version is new at least! And since the game is like 99 percent text I guess in a way it is sort of mostly new? (reaching)

I can't imagine how they'd manage to top the second one. There are a couple of story threads left unwound (most namely the issue of the Ayasato matriarch), but it'll be no small feat to one-up the last few trials from the second one.

My understanding, based on the folks I've talked to who can read Japanese and thus play the originals, is that the third game is actually the best of the four that have been released. I don't really know why they feel that way, since I wouldn't let them elaborate for fear of spoiling the story... but still, I am cautiously excited!

Apparently, more crap goes down in Case 5 of <i>Trials and Tribulations</i> than in any other case in <i>Phoenix Wright</i> history - and while some people apparently still think Case 4 of <i>Justice for All</i> takes the cake, <i>Trials and Tribulations</i> as a whole appears to be better. At least, this is what I've gathered from a bit of lurking at court-records.net and some completely unrelated chatrooms...

Either way, I can't wait. Heck, I'd like some information on "Apollo Justice", too, if possible (though, to be blunt, that was possibly the worst name for Housuke Odoroki they could come up with... I mean, who the hell has "Justice" for a last name...?)

I've finished both Phoenix Wright's recently and am unimpressed by either of them. The cases of the first game were okay (I quite liked the last two cases though) and the 2nd and 4th case of the second game were good and great respectively, but the 1st and 3rd case were retarded (even if the 3rd case made me laugh the most), and people were lying for the stupidest reasons (why did the ventriloquist forget he didn't have the ring, for example), and I just feel like there's too much conjecture flying around. Is it just me?

From what I recall, the whole "Justice" thing is supposed to relate to part of his Japanese name translating to "son of law" or something to that extent.

Personally, I would have called him "Leon Lawson". Or "Derek Lawson". I dunno, I'm wierd like that.

I think I liked the games a lot more than you did in general, but I agree with you that the 3rd case of the second game was not very good. It's my least favourite in the entire series, and actually at the time it caused me to take a break from the game for a month or two before I went back and finished it.

Of all the videos that have come out of e3, I think this is the one that really gives you the best look at how Metroid Prime 3 is turning out:

http://gametrailers.com/player/21802.html

It's just too bad he's not playing on the expert mode (that is, the mode with the smaller "bounding box" and faster turning.) You can see how the expert mode looks in some other videos, but none of them are as keen as this one.

It's funny how arm movement and hand gestures are just part of American communication, especially in sales. And then to try to do those why holding a motion-sensing controller. Ha.

I actually stopped watching this video about half-way through in fear that it would spoil too much.

There's certainly some inconsistency in the writing - some of the puzzles are just too out there to make much sense - but I thought it was still unique enough and with enough memorable characters to forgive the occasional loose wire. I'm also a bit put off by the occasionally compromised translation (that's one of the reasons I was hesitant to play at all), but of course I can't hold that against the game proper.

The strongest scenario I think was the fourth case from the first game. I don't recall any glaring "that doesn't make much sense" moments and I think it's the only trial I made it all the way through without making a single mistake. It's also the only trial in which I really didn't guess the true killer until the last minute.

Also, who lets that woman take a bullwhip into the goddamn courtroom?

Well apparently the whole ridiculous concept of a 3 day trial where you're automatically proven guilty if no verdict is reached is actually based upon the real Japanese legal system, so it wouldn't surprise me if you can walk around brandishing weapons in court there as well

Whoah, are you serious? So that's not a purely fictitious narrative tool to justify the 3-day structure of all the trials?

Are all Japanese prosecutors as hot as Mei?
