So who's going to martyr themselves and buy the Shadow game?

Holy shit, hahaha. I hope this is so terrible on purpose, because it's really hilarious. (and the song Julien-K did for the game is actually pretty okay)
I think this song beats "We Can" for the most cringe-inducing Sonic Team vocal song ever!

I heard there is another ending where Shadow kills Sonic.

There are 10 fucking endings? Let me guess, each one requires you to replay the same levels with slight variations. What a shitty way to stick in replay value.

I decided to give Shadow another chance. I found out once you get the gist of the controls and level design, it's actually pretty damn fun. That doesn't go without saying that game isn't without its flaws, however.

- The Homing-Attack is not as effective as the weapons.
- Half of the level designs are quite clumsy.
- The game has a very bitchy ranking system.
- The Doom and Lost Impact.

The Doom and Lost Impact are the most depressing stages ever. Both of them are the equivalent of a playthrough of Sonic Labyrinth. You will find yourself getting lost in rooms that all look the same, each of them accompanied with depressing gray textures. You will also be forced to listen to some shitty elevator music that repeats itself until your agony is put to a stop by completing a mission objective. Just by playing those two stages, I can see why IGN and Gamespy gave the game such bad reviews. My head never hurt so badly after playing those stages, and I actually played through Sonic Labyrinth.

But there are good things. I like the new camera. Unlike previous 3D Sonic games, you can actually use it to backtrack. You can also use it to prevent blind landings and take sharp turns when you're going really fast. I've also found some new favorite 3D Sonic stages. I suggest you try the following.

- Lethal Highway. Fast, fast stage. Think of the beginning section of Speed Highway in SA1, but with more angst.

- Circus Park. Brilliant art direction. You will also find some elements from Carnival Night Zone.

- Digital Circut/Mad Matrix. Think of the cyberspace levels in Pulseman, but in 3D.

- Black Comet/Final Haunt. Enough said.

- Central City. If your are looking for a non-linear stage, try this one. There are barely any bottomless pits in sight, and the stage leaves a lot of room for exploration.

- Air Fleet. No, it's not like Egg Fleet. This one's different. Think of Rockman X3's Gravity Beetle stage, but, again, in 3D. It's pretty challenging, and for most of the right reasons.

There are also a couple of stages that revisit the space stages in Sonic Adventure 2. You will quickly notice that the same graphics from Final Rush and Final Chase are reused.

I've also noticed a couple of new fixes. The Light-Speed Dash screws up a lot less than it did in Sonic Adventure 2 and Sonic Heroes. The only time it ever screws up is when you approach a line of rings directly from the side. The rail-switching has been fixed too.

So here's what I think of the Shadow game. A lot better than Sonic Heroes. It certainly kills the notion that Sonic games have been getting worst and worst. But still, there are a lot of rough edges. I doubt a sequel will be made, since the game is getting such bad reviews. But unlike Heroes, I see potential in Shadow. If only these rough edges were smoothened out, it could have been a quality game.

Yeah, but the fan reviews all shout perfection, so I wouldn't doubt a sequel being made.

I am (most likely) getting this game for Christmas, since my aunt asked what i wanted and i made it known to my family the (very) short list of items i wanted. i'll save total judgement for when and if i ever get to play it.

i keep hearing how bad it's gonna be but if i do get it, like it or hate it, i'll end up keeping it 'cus i'll have no other choice. i did like Heroes and SA2; i see that most of you don't, but i guess i just have bad taste. pretty much, if a game can get me into that zone of "No awareness about the outside world at all" also known as total fantasy land, i'll like it. then again, my life is boring, so the sonic series pretty much had me at "hedgehog standing upright". yeah, its that bad.

But aren't there any other games that interest you? There are games beyond the Sonic franchise--better games--games that are worthy of Game of the Year.

Even better than Sonic 3 & Knuckles or a Japanese Sonic CD?

Back on the subject, I just beat the Last Story in Shadow the Hedgehog. Fortunately, a lot of good has come out of the ending.

Shadow decides to stop being an emo and puts the past behind him. This is good, because Shadow's backstory will no longer taint the Sonic storyline. Now it's just back to the happy old times with Sonic and Eggman.

Well, I was refering to games that was released this year that's better than Shadow the Hedgehog, of course. Though I do know a few games I consider better than the ones you mentioned. (:

Anyway, did that game actually answer what the hell is Shadow?

And it would go along perfectly with the Poochie analogy that was brought up earlier. Assuming he dies on the way back :)

Shadow's a genetically engineered thinger with alien DNA in him. All of Gerald's experiments kept on failing until he made a deal with an evil alien who happened to be passing by in a nearby comet. The alien would jam his DNA into Gerald's projects if Gerald would give him the Chaos Emeralds 50 years later. Gerald planned on screwing Black Doom over though, so built the Eclipse Cannon to blow the comet out of the fucking sky. Which is nice in that it explains why the hell a pacifist scientist would build a gigantic canon in the shape of his own head. Well, maybe not the shape part.

It's better that what an Archie plotline would come up with, I'll give it that.

Did they get a 10 year old Shadow fanboy to write the story or something?
That has to be the worst song yet! It is just laughably bad!

So, is there a reason the aliens didn't just slaughter everyone the first time they passed through and take the emeralds?

And did Shadow die at the end of SA2 or not? And if not, how? The expected "Chaos control at the last second" followed by spontaneous amnesia?
