Well, when I find one of the two games a year I can still enjoy I tend to take it pretty seriously.

You really like importing games instead of buying them from North American retailers, don't you? I'd do it myself, but am held back for two reasons;

1) not enough money
2) I can't read a single bit of Japanese

Is there voice acting in Bumpy Trot / Steamboat Chronicles at all?

Quite a bit, actually, but the English voice actors are very good. I don't know that there's an English text option in the Japanese version, though, so I'd imagine it would take no end of trial and error considering how many specific context based answers you can choose.

I recently joined the civilian army, so I think I'm most of the way through the game. Currently I have to go find some steel beams, which is pretty easy. But I have a few questions: What are these dungeons everyone's talking about? I've seen a few gates that say "Keep Out" or something to that extent. Is that where the dungeons are? How do you open them? Also, does anyone know where the Mini Generator is? I want to upgrade to an electric guitar really badly.

There's a man outside the largest city in the game bemoaning trash in the river. Clear out the trash and talk to him and he'll give you the Mini Generator.

There are three dungeons in the game - mostly filled with worthless rotten meat. But you can sometimes find jewels. Collect all 12 Jewels and give them to the leader of the Desert Hornets to get the Gattling Gun, the game's fastest gun weapon. You can also find crap you can use to give to the museum or decorate your room. The three dungeons are:

1 in Fort Raven. It's the cave to the left when you enter from the hill. 1 in that mining town past the Cuckoo Forest - it's on the top of the hill to the left. There's another that can only be reached by swimming into a cave on the northwest side of the lake at Vision Ranch.

For the record, it had been two odd weeks since I'd last played. Today, though, I sat down and finished it up, which involved a somewhat excruciating fetch quest session involving a paper airplane. And yeah, Del's right. They suck. They suck pretty hard. I have to plead temporary insanity on that one.

If anyone that's beaten it hasn't been yet, Excalibur, the best melee weapon in the game, can be found by going to Dandelion's music shop's third floor and going down a ladder from there to the basement. You'll find his old mech there sitting with a Excalibur and a badass spiky front grid.

These days the only reason I buy a game domestically is if it's an actual American game (like Psychonauts) or if there's too much of a language barrier to play it properly. And even then, I like to own the original Japanese version just for completeness sake.

Anyway, I am relishing the opportunity to geek out over Bumpy Trot. I'm eyeing eBay for the harmonica keychain. I might even buy Blokus Club.

So what are you supposed to do once you pick up Connie in the epilogue? Is there anything else, or do you just roam around at leisure until you get bored or until the Earth is destroyed and the entire history and legacy of the human species is lost forever in the infinite abyss of time and space?

Preeeetty much. If you got the good ending, you might want to go check out the graves. Otherwise all that's left to do are sidequests. Of which there are a million.

I went to the graves but nothing special happened. Did I miss something?

I was kind of hoping for something positive, maybe some solid hint as to Connie and Vanillabeans' future (aside from sharing hot cocoa). It's otherwise such a depressing ending for such a happy game.

Actually, it's kind of a realist game. I tried to be good, but whenever I did something nice for someone I ended up screwing someone else. Like when I automated the carpet mill and then all the workers lost their jobs. And when I helped ambitious worker Joachin earn his fortune by conquering the Garland hotels, effectively ruining the Romeo & Juliet couple's marriage plans. I always ended up feeling like a dick.

The whole game is a twisted bittersweet lie and it crushes my soul.

...you get to help orphans? :/

There isn't much at the graves -- if you examine Chichory's you get a scene. And you can "pray" to the other two.

Does anyone know where Mallow goes after the end of the Good ending? I can't find the jerk and I want to see my boyfriend, damnit.

Mallow's working in one of the factories at Happy Garland.

I did help the orphans, but helping the little girl was the very last thing I achieved. You get a "Donation Box" part for your Trot and the nun license plate.

Where's Pablo hiding? I see he lost his job over allegations of forgery but I can't find where he ran off to.

Pablo is in the scrap yard left of the factory at Happy Garland.
