I kinda figured Holoska was supposed to be Antarctica, but they ended up giving it a name based off Alaska.FlashTHD wrote:And Antartica.Zeta wrote:Come to think of it, make that South America AND Austrailia being flung off the planet.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
IGN has posted a walkthrough video of the entirety of the Wii version of the Apatos stage. I think this is the first time we've seen a whole level from the Wii version, and it's kind of surprising to see how different an approach it's taking compared to the 360/PS3 version.
http://wii.ign.com/dor/objects/14242720 ... 11408.html
The 2D segments and the boss fight in particular both feel like something straight out of Sonic Rush Adventure. But the 3D segments almost look like a racing game... big stretches of roadway, free of enemies or obstacles, light on jumping and heavy on drift turning. The emphasis looks to be almost entirely on clocking good "lap" times instead of avoiding death.
It's WEIRD.
edit: They've also posted a hands-on article:
http://wii.ign.com/articles/930/930286p1.html
It confirms, among other things, that the motion controls are optional. (Thank god...)

I see, so those who wanted the PS2 version because of the controls can get the Wii version instead.

I was literally screaming and growling in anger when I watched that Wii gameplay video. God, the Wii version is gonna suck balls. I hate owning a fucking Wii...
Well, on the plus side, at least the bosses are back to being end of stage bosses like the old days.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
Hey! The Wii Version is like what you'd get if you took Sonic and the Secret Rings and Sonic Rush and took all of the fun, obstacles, or details out of the games. Who wouldn't want to play a Sonic game that's 90% running through barren courses free of obstacles or anything to interact with, am I right?

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
And the saddest part is that in their hands on preview, they said that the Wii version may be the best out of all of them... because it has no slowdowns compared to the 360 version. THEY FIXED THE FUCKING SLOWDOWN MONTHS AGO!!!
Guess It IS true. You CAN'T spell ignorant without IGN and not just in a literal sense either.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
I just find it hilarious that they managed to screw up the Wii port of a game whose primary influence was the popularity of the Sonic games on Wii and DS. I guess the Wii just isn't strong enough to match up to the processing power of the DS.
Fucking PS2. I want it to die already and free the Wii from the goddamn chains it's choking it with.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
You'd think they'd get rid of the 3D running for the Wii version and focus on side-scrolling, instead of making it crazy opposite day.

Note how they call it "Empire City". Japan has probably realised that America is a greedy, imperialistic threat!

I think it's a reference to the fact that New York state is also known as the "Empire State."

They should build something to commemorate that.

It really does look like Reactive Factory, awesome. Let's hope it plays as well.Dr. BUGMAN wrote:It's like Sonic R all over again.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
E-102 Omega Street is just laughably absurd, but they're at least attempting little bits of un-sly humor here and there. They haven't really tried that since the Got Ring? blimp in Radical Highway.

Re: Sonic Unleashed?
after watching the trailer I guess it doesn't even matter what the names of the streets are. I mean Sonic is running like a million miles an hour so it's not like many people will notice.
