The problem was that it penalized everyone who couldn't use a net connection with their DC, and it did it for absolutely no reason at all. It made me sad, I was only a young person! :(

This is slightly off topic but Sega has just picked up the rights for making games based off of the iron man movie. What with this, Charlotte's web, and His Dark materials, I'm a little worried that sega is heading into the world of producing for mainly licenses.

Don't forget Astro Boy.

Also, there will be free downloadable content, in the form of character skins. But most of it will charge. On the plus side, you will be getting extra levels.

I assume you mean for Astro Boy?

This has been discussed before. The conclusion was: barf.

So, I'm assuming the 360 wont have this new downloadable content then?

Or maybe it will, but the related problem that must be amended is in the PS3 version, so the 360 version is A-OK to launch when it launches.

They're screenshots of a completely scrapped build. The current build they've only been working on since uhh...either 2002 or 2003, I forget.

The situation is that although there are screens of "Duke Nukem Forever", there haven't been any in the last 5 years, meaning none of the game that (possibly) exists today.

Even if the build those screens are from is completely scrapped, that doesn't necessarily mean the content-- art, design, scenario and so on-- shown in them isn't. I'm sure DNF 'exists' in some capacity, even if it doesn't stretch far beyond the realm of the conceptual, but I, of course, have less faith that it will ever manifest itself in any meaningful way.

I am very curious to know why it's had such a torturous development. It'd make fascinating reading.

If you really want to know you can check out the 3drealms forums (hammer in http://www.dukenukemforever.com or whatever to find them), the majority of it can be found in George Broussard's forum posts as he's had to explain countless times.

The game will likely come out, they've shown off "test rooms" and shit to people in the last few months, which is practically all they have of the new build rather hilariously, however it wouldn't surprise me if they ended up changing the engine yet again before development is finished because they're already getting to the point again where their technology is pretty outdated.

Epic said that 3DR had licensed the UR3 engine...are we that quick to jump the gun?

As near as I can tell:

1) They keep on listening to fan ideas and trying to implement them in the game (possibly the worst decision ever, especially when you consider the level of intelligence in these fans "I want to rape hookers on toilets" is pretty par).

2) They keep on scrapping the engine whenever something shiny comes along.

Basically, its a development staff with ADD.

Uh right, when exactly was that said? I want an exact quote and official confirmation from 3dRealms...as far as I'm aware there's nothing like that, they have like their own heavily rewritten version of an older Unreal engine or something as far as I know, no way Unreal Engine 3.

EDIT: No, a quick look around and there's nothing about the Unreal Engine 3, it seems you're just spurting out uneducated bullshit as any mention of the Unreal Engine 3 in relation to the project has been rumour and not fact, which is what you were stating it as.

Anyway, from looking around the forums it seems the latest turn in the story is that a good deal of staff have recently left the project, with 7 members from a sub-30 team leaving since December alone. It seems the future for the game is somehow managing to look even worse than before.
