Sonic Channel Updates
Sonic Channel Updates
Sonic Channel has been updated with the usual assortment of content.
This month’s profile focuses on Charmy Bee. The information is mostly identical to the profile released with Sonic Heroes
Takeshi Sakakibara, who served as the lead programmer on Shadow the Hedgehog, is interviewed in the Sonic Team creator section. Most of the questions asked are fairly trivial but he does reveal that he is currently working on an unannounced next-generation title.
^ Sakakibara’s favourite character is Rouge and he spends his free time driving around America.
After completing Shadow the Hedgehog, the team had a 3 month holiday.
The Sonic Team USA section reflects on E3. Somewhat amusingly, Wild Fire is being promoted as another return to the roots of the original Sonic the Hedgehog. The section also includes a brief profile on Jun Senoue and a competition to win a copy of the American Sonic Heroes strategy guide.
The Sonic Channel homepage can be found here.

Oh shit, I hope I win! So what is that? A Prima or Bradygames?big_smile wrote:The section also includes a brief profile on Jun Senoue and a competition to win a copy of the American Sonic Heroes strategy guide.
Yes, but the good old games, not the crappy new ones! When SEGA said 'returning to the roots' I don't think anyone really considered anything past Sonic Adventure as a part of Sonic's 'roots'. Well, besides SEGA.One Classy Bloke wrote:"Return to the roots" means drawing features from previous games right?

I asked myself that and then decided to stop giving a fuck about those words. It means whatever fits their whim at the time, it seems.Gaz wrote:I'm starting to wonder if they even know what the phrase "return to the roots" actually means! The Sonic Team USA section reflects on E3. Somebody over there needs more work to do.a competition to win a copy of the American Sonic Heroes strategy guide
Sonic Channel has been updated, but, as the changes are minor, I wont start a new thread. Espio has been added to the character profile section. Rush director Akinori Nishiyama has been interviewed in the creator section, although as with previous interviews in the section, nothing particularly interesting is revealed. The Sonic Team USA section covers Sonic's appearance at the American Licensing show and includes a ‘history of Sonic video’, which, like the one in the original Mega Collection, is simply a montage of video clips from various Sonic games.
Hey, Espio, what's eleven minus three?

Any word on the possibility of a sequel or anything? It's been a while since I've heard anything from him and it's annoying that it seems one isn't coming, it's the only upcoming Sonic title I'd genuinely look forward to.big_smile wrote: Rush director Akinori Nishiyama has been interviewed in the creator section

As far as I'm aware, no, it did not sell like balls. In Japan it debuted at 40th and dropped out the charts like a brick, however in the UK at least it's been selling pretty decently, about 100,000 total here alone I think. I'm not sure about the US and the rest of Europe but from what I heard it performed fairly well.
Manaita translated the Espio profile:
"A trend spotter of Chaotix detective office. Always calmly and quietly, although sometimes too prudent, he is an important person to restrain upbeat team Chaotix that always easily rushes like "Go! Go!".
He is a type that feels it burn against more dangerous duty, and walks tall to his Ninja ability. But his aesthetics is to act in the shadow inconspicuously to be Ninja.
He can vanish his body by becoming translucent, but sometimes he has a careless mistake, when sneezing, he becomes visible inadvertently.
A horn that jutted forward and a long tail curled up roundly are the trademark of him."
Although it was never shown in Heroes or Shadow, it seems Espio is being reworked as a haphazard hero. This is a slight improvement, as the 'experienced ninja master' character type wasn’t very interesting.

It seems that they are making the whole Chaotix trio as the major comic relief of the Sonic universe.
So...would it be wrong of me to wish for an excellent spin-off on a handheld staring the Chaotix which features the same quirky humor that was found in Mario & Luigi and Earthbound?

Relax, he only said it was wrong to wish for "a excellent". Since no such thing exists, you're in the clear.
I wouldn't mind something similar, myself, but for the love of all that is holy, change Vector's voice. I'd have a hard time playing a game surrounding the same guy that said "FIND THE COMPUTER ROOM" and other such favorites. Not because of the line, but because of how mismatched his voice is.
