I mentally pronounce it "kassen-opolis".
I emphasize weird words on other zones, too. I think of it as "Star Light Zone, and Marble Garden... like it's a marble-encrusted garden, not like a garden that grows marble plants. Ice Cap, too.

I never really thought of the names as describing an actual object. I just figured they loosely described something in the level.
I don't seem to place any emphasis on either word, but that just be my own mental reading.. I would be more likely to emphasize the second word, but I think of the stage names as a single whole, not two seperate words in most cases. I suppose that doesn't really make any difference, since almost every word has emphasis on a particular part... I don't regard the names as describing anything other than the name, like rather than Spring Yard being a yard with springs (or a yard in springtime), it is just Springyard.
I don't care if it is in Sonic Heroes. Those lousy voice actors probably don't know how to pronounce and the people directing it could probably care less. The word isn't spelled "Casino-opolis". It's "Casinopolis" and should be pronounced how it's spelled.
ka-see-no po-lis just doesn't roll with my tounge like ka-see-nah-po-lis does.
And to answer the original poll question, the Artifical Chaos series followed by Terustar and Kamakiller. Dishonerable mention goes to those 'surprise' enemies that appear near the dang goal ring in SA2. Stupid enemies making me lose all my rings at the last second...
Artifical Chaos, followed closely by Kamakiller (Slicer). I still have problems with that thing...
Concerning Orbatron, are you referring to the one from Sonic 1 or Sonic 3 (I could've sword the one from the former was Uni Uni)? If it's the latter, then that's fscking easy with Sonic. Insta-shield before contact, poomf, move on.
I can't remember the last time I've had problems with Asteron; I always stop before they hit me.
You actually used the insta-shield in Sonic 3? I always just thought it was a cool thing to do for show, didn't know you could actually use it for any practical purposes considering it lasts for such a short period of time.
The insta sheild was great in many of the boss fights. The Carnival Night Zone boss and the rehash of the Metropolis zone boss in Sky Sanctuary could both be defeated in about two seconds using it.
The insta shield's name is pretty misleading, since it's actual purpose wasn't so much to protect Sonic from harm, but to extend the radius of his spin attack, making it much easier to hit certain enemies without getting it yourself. It's probably the best move to ever be added to the 2D games, next to the spin dash.
I also voted for the Artificial Chaos series, but everyone else on the list deserves to be there as well. >_<
I used to do that to the bomb flowers back in Sonic three. Just sit there for about 10 minutes, deflecting the bombs onto tails, enjoying his pain. Yep.
Another bonus the shield gave when activated was returning control to the player when jumping while in a ground spin. Can't tell you how many times I saved Sonic's ass from careening off an errant cliff or into a wall of spikes with that move.
Sadly, the shield is less useful in the Advance series.
